Supernatural Season 15, Episode 3 delivered a heartbreaking episode for fans. Here are the standout lines from The Rupture.

There’s no doubt that Supernatural Season 15, Episode 3 delivered on the heartbreak. We didn’t just get one death but three. And one of those deaths hurt more than the others purely due to the circumstances and the outstanding performance given by Ruth Connell.

With no new episode this week, I’ve got time to keep looking back at the episode, titled “The Rupture.” Here are my five favorite lines from the episode.

Okay, now that we’re waiting for the witch’s hooch to kick in, can we finally admit the obvious? Uh, she failed. So if we’re keeping score, that’s, uh, one for the demon, uh, zero for the witch.

It all starts with Belphegor. I’ve loved seeing Alexander Calvert get the chance to play a different type of role from Jack. We got to see him more relaxed and have some fun. And this line continued to make that clear.

Knowing what we learn by the end of the episode, this line has another layer to it, too. We know that Belphegor had been making things difficult for Rowena. He wanted power and he would do everything he could to gain it.

Ghosts are gonna bust out, and their gonna swallow this world. And you wanna what, just relax? Take a knee? No. No, we’re gonna end this, Sam. Like you said. We’re gonna be free.

The next line comes from Dean with his sort of pep talk. Despite everything being stacked against the group, he isn’t going to go down without a fight. This isn’t a time to give up and sit back. I love that we get to see him fully focused on one thing: being free.

It all goes back to his anger towards Chuck and everything in the world. Nothing has been free will. There’s always been some sort of track they’ve been forced on. But Dean shows that he has listened to Sam. He wants to hold out hope that Sam is right and there’s freedom at the end of this.

You’re wearing Jack, who was like a son to me, like a coat. Every second in your presence is intolerable. It’s an abomination. You’re an abomination.

Castiel has struggled to be around Belphegor, and we’ve understood why. He can’t get away from that feeling of hatred and loss. He’s looking at Belphegor in Jack’s body.

This line mimics things he’s already said to Belphegor and Dean in the previous episodes of Supernatural Season 15. However, he also gets the chance to push the point home that Jack was like a son to him. From the very beginning, Jack believed Castiel was his father, and it didn’t take long for Cass to see Jack as a son.

I don’t care about anything enough to take my own life. Not you, your brother — not even the world. But I believe in prophecy. I believe in magic.

Rowena’s speech had many in tears. It was emotional, heartfelt, but also heartbreaking at the same time. She made it clear that Sam would be the one that had to kill her. That was the way all the books were written for her.

However, what I loved is that this speech remained completely true to Rowena’s character. This wasn’t about saving the world. She doesn’t actually care enough about saving the world or about saving the Winchesters to take her own life. This is about magic and prophecy, two things she believes wholeheartedly in.

Jack’s dead. Chuck’s gone. You and Sam have each other. I think it’s time for me to move on.

Poor, Castiel. While I understand where Dean is coming from, I still feel for Castiel at this moment. He realizes that he’s not really wanted in the bunker. Dean can’t look at him, and he’d rather be on his own than deal with the hatred.

It’s sad to see his decision to walk away. Part of this storyline feels a lot like Buffy being kicked out after she made a series of mistakes that got potential slayers killed, but we’re much earlier in the final season. Just how long will this rupture last?
