Gary had a difficult decision to make in A Million Little Things. Would he give Colin back to his owner? What decision did he end up making?

While the group of friends celebrated Theo’s 10th birthday and Eddie’s 10-year sober anniversary, Gary had a huge decision to make on A Million Little Things. Would he choose to return Colin to his rightful owner?

Fans will remember that the previous episode saw Colin go missing. The group of friends rallied together to find him, which led to Eddie finding a poster from almost a year ago. Colin was actually called Wesley and someone was looking for him.

Gary had to make a difficult choice. Would he selfishly keep Colin or would he send him back to his original owner? After doing some investigating and finding out the owner was dead but the owner’s wife was holding out hope that Colin/Wesley would return, Gary knew there was only one thing to do. He needed to send Colin/Wesley back home.

There was an emotional goodbye. At one point, Gary even looked like he was going to decide to keep the dog. It was only when Colin answered to Wesley that Gary knew what he needed to do.

Maggie was the one to take Colin back to his original owner, though, knowing how hard it would be for Gary. But on the way, she needed to make a quick stop. This was when we got the twist.

Sure, Colin’s original owner got a dog back, but it wasn’t the dog she was expecting. She won’t realize that, though. Maggie’s quick stop was to the shelter where Eddie had found the “missing” poster. That was where they’d found another mastiff, who looked similar but wasn’t the same. It was that mastiff that Maggie had taken back to the woman, coloring in the white in his ear so the woman wouldn’t realize it wasn’t the same dog.

Gary, who had decided he needed to see Colin off to his former home, got the shock of his life. It was certainly a happy ending for all, even if it was morally questionable. Gary got to keep his dog, the woman got her “Wesley” back, and the mastiff in the shelter who had been there for a week found a home.
