After crashing her car when she fell asleep at the wheel, it was all hands on deck to save Jessica in The Resident on Nov. 19. Did the doctors manage it?

Caution: There are spoilers from The Resident Season 3, Episode 7, titled “Woman Down,” in this post.

Hands up if you thought The Resident was going to kill off one of Chastain’s own during “Woman Down?” After all, it’s not often medical shows give us miracles and happy endings, right? We usually have to be taken through all the emotions along with our favorite doctors and nurses. So, it was easy to assume that Jessica would be killed off.

More from FOX

After falling asleep at the wheel and crashing her car at the end of the last episode, Jessica was rushed into Chastain. There, Conrad, Devin, and many others got to work to save her.

As you would expect, she had a brain injury and that meant Cain was brought in. Tensions were high, as they all argued over the best way to treat Jessica. With her body losing blood somewhere, Cain’s operation on her brain would likely cause her to bleed out. But that operation was also needed.

So, was she left in a coma? Fortunately, Conrad, Bell (I love that he showed just how much he respected and liked Jessica), Devin, Nic, and others got together to solve the problem together. They didn’t argue. They ran off each other, the way a team will. And then, despite Cain not wanting Conrad in the OR, Conrad was able to help Jessica’s body stop losing platelets. After all, that was why her blood wasn’t clotting.

It all worked. Jessica is alive on The Resident!

Thankfully, the writers decided that we deserved a good ending for Jessica’s story. Now the focus will be on making sure it doesn’t happen again, and that means hiring more nurses and paying them better because they are extremely important to the hospital.

It was a great save, but Conrad has made an enemy of Bell. That doesn’t really matter right now because Jessica woke up, but it’s going to cause problems in the future. We knew that, though, right? Cain is bad news for Chastain.
