Day 2 of the 25 Days of Dean-mas is our Man Crush Monday post. What makes Dean Winchester our #MCM every day of the year?

Dean Winchester is one of the pillars of Supernatural. The show wouldn’t be what it is without him. On our second day of Dean-mas, we’re looking at why he’s our Man Crush Monday every day.

While #MCM was originally started so we could share the men we like the look of, things have adapted over the years. For us at SPN Hunters, it’s a chance to look at what makes a particular character special. Dean Winchester certainly is our #ManCrushMonday all the time, whether you’re a Dean!Girl or a Sam!Girl.

What makes Dean so special? Why is he our man crush for the day and every day? Let’s take a look in our Christmas countdown.

He’s loyal to family

We know that Dean is loyal to family, but it’s not just to those who are related to him by blood. Anyone he believes is family will earn his protection. And he will go out of his way to keep them safe. However, there’s only one he’s proven he will die for, and that’s Sammy.

More from Supernatural

While he’s loyal, he’s not a stupid man. It’s not easy to worm your way into his life, although he gives children more leeway than others. There have been times he’s been tricked (he’s human after all), but he has always gone back to protecting those who he’s viewed as family.

There are times that he turns against family. He is human. Everyone has flaws. However, he always finds his way back.

He’s a protective soul

Dean Winchester is protective. We’ve seen it when it comes to Sammy, but there are other times that he’s shown his protectiveness. He’s tried to keep as many people out of the hunting life as possible, especially when it comes to young adults and teenagers.

It’s not all that surprising. Dean was forced into the life of a hunter. There was never going to be an out for him. But with how dangerous it is, he wants to make sure they’re kept out of it at all costs. And he wants to help them avoid the pain and grief because of the life.

Sometimes he can be overprotective. It’s a flaw, and again, he’s human. But the protective nature outweighs his overprotective actions.

He is full of heart

Underneath the gruff nature of Dean Winchester, he’s also a man that is full of heart. This is a man who wants to make the world a better place, even admitting that behind all the bad, the good makes it all worth it. He wants the world to be happy and safe. If that isn’t a man with heart, I don’t know what he is!

Plus, we’ve seen his ability to connect with other people. Whether it’s a child who has been through trauma similar to him or a woman that he likes, he’s been able to open up and connect on a deeper level. He’s encouraged others to open up to him and helped them in a genuine way.

Sometimes he cares too much and he gets hurt, but that’s part of life. We all suffer heartbreak sometimes.
