Crisis on Infinite Earths promised the death of two specific Arrowverse heroes, if not more. But are we to believe that this early death on Supergirl is the real thing?

SPOILER ALERT: Consider this your strong warning. This post contains extreme spoilers regarding characters and events from the current Supergirl, aka “Part One” of Crisis on Infinite Earths. If you have not seen it yet, I urge you to think twice about continuing!

The CW has been setting up this event across multiple character shows for a long time. Finally, the night arrived and we were all watching Supergirl on the edges of our seats. I was certainly not disappointed! In fact, it was far more mind-blowing than I expected. And believe me, that’s amazing to say.

Like many others, I have been counting down to this event for what feels like centuries. I even decided to live tweet my reactions because I felt like I needed to be amongst like-minded folk for what promised to be an epic situation.

Twitter was bursting with commentary as we all took to our keyboards in dismay and shock as one emergency after another made us gasp and question our very existence. Well, in that mix of the #CrisisOnInfiniteEarths hashtag frenzy during this landmark episode of Supergirl, I saw something whiz by that made me pause:

So, I was like, “OK well… um…” I wondered if it was Amell asking fans to remember the Arrow in general, or did it mean something more? I was kind of stressed.

Our trailers and promo pieces showed us a lot of action, and I was in love with the sentiment of one specific Supergirl preview scene for Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Monitor tells Oliver “it’s time,” after he had already zapped all the other fighting heroes to safety.

But when Oliver learned that the planet was not yet fully evacuated. He just said in his Arrow voice, “then it’s not time.”

It’s so him and I knew it was part of Arrow writers’ and the crossover plot, building his character up for a memorable legacy. We’ve seen him saying goodbyes and all manner of departure behavior on his own series. But for me, it just seems too scripted or something. It’s just too typical.

But here, on Supergirl, we are dealing with the Crisis. We’ve had the information for a while that Oliver is supposed to die in this event. The Monitor declared this to him before he even kissed his wife and new baby goodbye, leading us into the storyline for this current and final season of Arrow.

But are you kidding me? That line in Stephen Amell’s tweet turned out to be foreshadowing the line he says to his daughter with his dying breaths? Are you trying to tell me right now that these amazing writers took the very first opportunity possible to kill off Oliver Queen forever?! I’m not buying it.

Even The Monitor was shocked. Now, we have this all-knowing and mysterious being who seems to speak in the most vague puzzles, ever. But, so far has been 100% on the money when it comes to the events at hand. He said that this was not right, this was not what he saw as Oliver’s fate.

Was The Monitor wrong? Did the future change? *Enter loophole for The Flash*, or is Oliver not going to stay dead? One of these things must be true. Because I am super devastated, like, Game of Thrones ending uproar style devastated, I just won’t accept that this is really Oliver’s fate.

I am not quite sure how it would come to pass, but maybe the other Oliver we saw has something to do with it? Will he step in and take this Oliver’s place? Was that the ending that The Monitor saw? I always say these shows don’t spend screen time on unnecessary details. Seeing “other Oliver” was probably not just random.

Or, I mean, aren’t they traveling around in a time machine? I don’t even want to talk about the shadow demon/time wraith/dementor army, but maybe time travel plays a role here. I’m sure there are tons of theories, (infinite possibilities?), but I’m still pretty stressed and disturbed about the events, so this is all I’ve got, OK?

All I know is that something had better happen because if I have to cry through that death again, I’m gonna be like, well, crying about crying about it. It would be much more fitting to have us see Oliver die more than once. That would be a lot closer to the level of drama I was expecting.

Where was the symphony? Where was the dramatic slow motion surrounded by all the loved ones? Oh wait, OK, so some of that did happen. Well whatever, I’m not buying it. I want more Oliver. Please, let there be more Oliver. I’m just not ready to say goodbye.
