The Supernatural Season 15 midseason finale saw Team Free Will in Hell. We found out what happened to Rowena, and it was just what she deserved.

Caution: There are spoilers from the Supernatural Season 15 fall finale in this post. Read it with caution if you haven’t watched the episode yet.

The Supernatural fall finale certainly delivered some surprises. Some of them were happy surprises, such as the revelation of what happened to Rowena in Hell. She certainly got what she deserved.

When Team Free Will went to Hell to get Michael out of the cage, they were attacked by demons. It was a certain frenemy that got them out of the mess they were in. Rowena was back, and she’s greater than ever.

After all those years of manipulating her way onto the throne of Hell, she had managed to claim it. And it certainly is fitting after so many years. This is a character who has been through some major development, starting off as a foe and ending as someone to sacrifice herself (through Sam’s actions) to save the world.

It would be an action worthy of Heaven, but Rowena threw herself into the pits of Hell with the souls, where her body died. Her soul was trapped there, and it was fitting considering all the bad she’s done over the years, even though she’s done good in recent years.

That throne of Hell wouldn’t have come easy. Rowena would have had to use every spell she knew to fight off those trying to claim it. She would have used her smarts and her skills to make sure she was the one demons would follow.

Her relationship with the Winchesters may have even helped. After all, Sam said there would be no King of Hell. He never said that there would be no Queen of Hell. His actions to send her to Hell have left him feeling guilty, even if it was written. There’s no way he’d try to overpower her.

And now, Supernatural can see Hell work with the Winchesters once more. Team Free Will is going to need all the help it can get in the fight against God. Isn’t it fitting that Rowena is in Hell leading the demons against the one who cast their own original leader down?

This ending for Rowena brings us hope for Adam. He asked Dean who gets what they deserve, but we know that sometimes it can happen. There’s just a long journey to get there first.
