The Supernatural Season 14 premiere opened the season with a bang. Here are the five best lines from the night.

Supernatural Season 14 certainly opened with a bang. Between slow-mo fight scenes, a very different Jensen Ackles on screen, and some excellent training between Bobby and Jack, there was a lot of love. Before I break down my favorite moments, it’s time to look at the best lines from the night.

This is never easy, especially with an episode like the Supernatural Season 14 premiere. I try to stick to five because–well, because of my OCD. Sometimes I go over, because I just don’t want to leave a line or two out. This time I’ve managed to rein it into five, mostly because some of the great lines are actually great moments and I’ll get to them tomorrow.

So, here it is. The top five lines from the night–and yes, there are spoilers.

Love. To belong, to have a place — a home, a family. It’s very… very human of you. And so… so disappointing.

More from Supernatural

There’s always that thing about being a child. Making a parent angry was inevitable. It was when you made them disappointed that you felt bad. The way Michael!Dean said “so disappointing” reminded me of all those times but there was a chilling feeling to it at the same time.

But you can get past this. I know you will. I have faith in you, Jack. And I believe in you.

I loved Sam throughout this episode, but this was one of his standout moments. The line was perfect. It brought back memories of when Sam was struggling with the demonic powers. What he needed from Dean was exactly what he was giving Jack in this moment. This line leaves warm feelings throughout.

I know he’s out there, scared and alone. I know. I know he might not ever come back. Never think I don’t know that. But I can’t… I have to think about the good, Sam, because if I don’t I will drown in the bad.

This was the point I really felt for Mary. I’ve always said I supported her character development in the 12th season. There was one moment in the 13th that I didn’t like, but I don’t completely hold everything against her. And I certainly don’t think her character has been ruined. However, this line was important. It made us see in the Supernatural Season 14 premiere that she cares and loves her sons. And like Sam, she needs Dean back.

Enough! There will be no new King of Hell. Not today. Not ever. And if anybody wants the job, you can come through me. Understood?

Did you really think this line wasn’t going to be in this post? I fully praised the development Sam had in this episode and I want to see more of it. This line certainly stood out as one of the best from the whole episode. It may end up being one of the best of the whole season. We’ll see.

You’ve got me. You have all of us. You have your family. And — And we are going to find Dean, and we are going to beat Michael and we are going to do it together. We — Because that’s what we do.

Just like Sam, Cass is everything that Jack needs right now. As Jack throws his (understandable) pity party, Castiel makes it extremely clear that Jack is not alone. The statement doesn’t quite have an impact on Jack, which is realistic, but it means the world to us as fans of the series, right?
