The Witcher
Henry Cavill trades in his clean-cut look and red cape for long, white hair and a sword in The Witcher.
What the show is about: The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a mutated monster-hunter for hire who believes that people can be more wicked than beasts on a place called the “Continent.” Geralt eventually crosses paths with Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and Princess Ciri (Freya Alla), the latter of which has a dangerous secret.

- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
Geralt will have to learn how to interact with both women and his main mission involves keeping the princess safe for those who seek her power. Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, and MyAnna Buring round out the main cast.
The Witcher is based on the fantasy book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who has written scripts for both Umbrella Academy and The Defenders, serves as showrunner on the show.
Why you should stream it: Essentially, The Witcher will help satisfy your fantasy itch in a post Game of Thrones world. Cavill playing a big action role that doesn’t involve Superman is a nice change of pace. The series was already picked up for a second season ahead of its premiere. The Witcher will be available to stream on Dec. 20.
