Tracie Thoms is everywhere you look right now, and we’re certainly not complaining. After guest-starring on Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector and continuing to portray Karen on 9-1-1, we get to see her step into Station 19 Season 3, Episode 10.

Thoms will play a psychologist for the Seattle Fire Department. She’s there to help the firefighters deal with the traumatic events that they see in work. And there have certainly been a lot over recent episodes. Montgomery on the phone to the woman as she froze to death in her car is just one of those moments that still stands out in my head.

Of course, the firefighters aren’t going to want to talk. We all seem to have this idea that sharing our feelings is a weakness. It’s a common stigma that is used in all TV shows at some point. Whether its soldiers on tour or firefighters experiencing trauma, men and women try not to share.

This episode will remind everyone that talking is good; sharing is caring. (Just please don’t share your germs!)

This is going to be an opportunity for the firefighters to get some heavy topics off their chests. They’ll be able to do it confidently that they’ll be better firefighters on the other side. Their minds will be clearer and some weights lifted off their shoulders.

It’s not going to be perfect. There will be messy moments. But this is definitely an episode of Station 19 you’re going to want to check out.
