9-1-1 Season 3: Did [Spoiler] survive saving the boy?

9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 15 saw one firefighter head down a drain to save a boy. Would that firefighter live or die? We got the answer by the end.

9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 15 was a huge episode for one particular firefighter. But would that firefighter survive to the end of the episode?

Caution: There are major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 15 in this post. Don’t read if you haven’t watched it yet. You can catch up on Hulu from April 21.

With the title “Eddie Begins,” we knew this was going to be a big episode for Eddie Diaz. Like the episodes about Hen, Chimney, and Athena, this was all about what made Eddie join the 118. However, it was also a story of how he ended up with his Silver Star and how he became a single father to young Christopher.

But it was also an episode for him to save a boy down a drain. We never found out exactly how this boy fell down the drain, but Eddie was the one to go get him. Of course, he put his own life on the line with one decision, cutting the rope that would have pulled him back home. Chimney had to go down the drain to get the boy, the weather system closing in made the whole situation underground dangerous.

After lightning hit the trucks on the ground, the hole that was dug caved in. Eddie was left 50ft deep with rising water and seemingly no way to get out. However, Eddie refused to give up.

He knew that the drain system below may connect to other pipes. That could mean it connected to a nearby reservoir. So, Eddie went in search for that. It meant swimming underwater with an oxygen tank that had ran out of air. For a split second, it looked like Eddie would drown underwater.

Would 9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 15 leave us with Eddie’s fate uncertain? Would the show kill one of the fan-favorite characters off?

As memories of Christopher flooded him, Eddie fought against death and went back in search for air. Fortunately, he found the reservoir connected to the farm house. Just as the 118 put a plan together to find Eddie, he stumbled back to the group.

It was a happy ending for all. Of course, there needs to be a few conversations about Eddie cutting the rope, but everyone survived and we can get ready for another bit episode next week.
