Bob’s Burgers: Recommending Hulu shows based on your favorite Belcher
Bob’s Burgers: If you relate to Tina a little too much, then Pen15 is exactly what you need
When coming up with a show to pair with Tina, this was the first to come to mind. If there is one thing Bob’s Burgers does amazingly, it’s not belting Tina for being a teen. While the family and some friends might poke fun at her, Tina never loses her confidence. She likes what she likes and doesn’t care who knows it. That’s why Pen15 is a perfect match if your favorite Belcher is Tina.
Pen15 was released in early 2019 on Hulu and it quickly captivated viewers. The series follows Maya and Anna who are play fictionalized versions fo themselves for the series. It’s basically about all of the awkwardness of being a teenage girl but amped up by 11. The series tackles a lot of topics including puberty, crushes, kissing, periods, and getting drunk. It’s perfect if you grew up in the early 2000s as there are a lot of references to that time.

Additionally, the series doesn’t shy away from the awkwardness of situations. While other shows might gloss over it, Pen15 almost glorifies it weirdly. It’s similar to how Bob’s Burgers handles Tina.
She isn’t something to be grossed out by but enjoyed for what she does. While they don’t go as far as to write erotic friend fiction, the show pushes the boundaries.
It’s also worth noting that Maya Erskine has guest-starred on Bob’s Burgers. She voiced Kaylee who was in “A Fish Called Tina” and “Prank You For Being a Friend.” Oddly enough, her character didn’t get along with Tina. Either way, if you love Tina, then you’ll probably love Pen15 for the same reason.
