So far, almost everything Jordan Peele has touched since Key & Peele has turned to gold. Us, The Twilight Zone, BlacKkKlansman, and most notably, Get Out, have all been massive success stories. Now, Peele’s latest foray into television comes in the form of Lovecraft Country, which premieres tonight at 9:00 PM ET on HBO.
Lovecraft Country tells the story of Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), who teams up with Leticia (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to search for his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams) in 1950s America. The show takes place during the time of Jim Crow laws so the show will combine elements of racism and horror, which come in the form of mythical creatures and real-life villains.

The series is based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name. Early reviews of the horror series have been overwhelmingly positive. Alan Sepinwall of Rolling Stone called the series “fantastic in every sense” while TIME called it a “stunning dissection of America’s racist history—and an absolutely wild ride.”
Who else is involved with Lovecraft Country
Mischa Green, best known as the creator of WGN’s Underground, developed Lovecraft Country for television. Peele and Monkeypaw Productions team up with J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot Productions to executive produce the show.

"Based on Matt Ruff ‘s novel of the same name, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he meets up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback."
