How did The Masked Singer have a live audience for Season 4?
That live audience on The Masked Singer Season 4 wasn’t actually there
The Masked Singer Season 4 filmed in a quarantine bubble. It’s not surprising that viewers were confused about how there was a live audience in the Season 4 premiere.
Well, that “live audience” wasn’t actually live. It was all thanks to technology. You can put away your pitchforks for so many people being crowded together now.

The Masked Singer tweeted about the use of technology for the live audience. In fact, Nick Cannon even talked about the greatness of technology during the opener, showing how CGI can turn a stage from one thing to another. It’s all a matter of perception.
By the way, if you look carefully at some shots, the audience hasn’t been added in. And you can just see how far away the panelists now have to sit. This was definitely a show filmed in a bubble.
The Masked Singer Season 4 audience has been added in digitally
It turns out that what you’re seeing with the audience is actually old footage. It’s been digitally added in, with producers finding specific clips that would match the performances and what the audience needs to be doing.
Some of the clips have been taken from other performances, showing the audience dancing in seats. Other clips have them agreeing or disagreeing with the panelists’ guesses.
Then there’s the use of technology to add the sound of the audience there. It’s all for the sake of us at home, so it feels like everything is normal. Could you imagine how it must have felt during filming for the performers only having the panelists in front of them?
It is disappointing not to be able to have the audience there, but it’s the safest option for The Masked Singer filming.
