5 shows to comfort binge on Netflix once The Office departs
By Erin Qualey
The Office is leaving Netflix on New Year’s Day 2021. Here are some replacement binges.
If the idea of The Office leaving Netflix in 2021 has you going NO GOD!! PLEASE NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!, you are definitely not alone.
The Office is a staple of many households, with many fans watching it on repeat over and over and over again until they’re able to repeat every line from every episode from memory. Reaching that point of familiarity with a show makes it into a soft, comforting blanket that you can just reach for at any time.
Need something to put on in the background when you’re doing other stuff? To watch when you need an emotional boost, or to fall asleep to at night? Gotta be The Office, yo. Personally, in my house, we refer to The Office as “bedtime stories” because we used to pop it on as we headed to bed every night.
More from Netflix
- Bridgerton season 3: All the details to know about Penelope and Colin’s love story
- It’s a slow week on Netflix with only three new releases (Nov. 20)
- Exploding Kittens: From card game to Netflix animated series starring Tom Ellis
- The Crown and more Netflix shows and movies to stream this week (November 13)
- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
However, with The Office leaving Netflix and making the move to NBC’s streaming platform Peacock, fans have a few options.
They can either pony up the cash for an ad-free version of Peacock, which is $9.99 a month ($4.99 without ads), or they can find a new comfort binge. (Other options might include buying physical copies of The Office on DVD, or to buy all the seasons outright on Amazon Prime so you can stream freely from your TV, but you do you.)
Thankfully, Netflix has many options for viewers to discover new favorites that are just a click away. Some of these might already be in your rotation, and others might not. But, if you have a Netflix subscription, all of them are super worthy of ascending to comfort binge status, and don’t you deserve to discover new favorites in 2021? We all do.
Let’s start with the obvious…
