Euphoria characters who definitely won’t be back in season 3

Euphoria season 3 can’t get here soon enough! There is already so much tea and speculation around the upcoming third season, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be released soon. On the contrary, we are in for a long wait. And when season 3 does finally arrive, not every character will be back.

Fans are still in for a long wait considering filming hasn’t even started. We are all waiting to learn more about the release date and synopsis, but also the cast. After all, before a trailer or synopsis, cast updates are always the first to surface. Who’s in and who’s out for Euphoria season 3?

Before season 2 concluded, there were rumors and controversies surrounding the Sam Levinson series (though really, when isn’t there some sort of controversy when Levinson is involved?). From rumors about fights on set between Barbie Ferreira and Levinson to concerns about the amount of nudity featured, the show is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Ferreira vs Levinson rumors only increased after the actress shared she would not be returning to season 3.

Is Barbie Ferreira in Euphoria season 3?

In the summer of 2022, it was officially reported that Ferreira would not reprise her role as Kat in Euphoria season 3. Fans were heartbroken across the globe, and the fact that her reason for departing was not made known at the time left everyone speculating. Perhaps the rumors about her alleged feud with the show’s creator were true? Well, in April 2023, the 26-year-old actor explained her decision.

While a guest on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, Ferreira explained that she didn’t want to play the “fat best friend” role any longer. She claimed her leaving was a mutual decision, adding:

"“I think there were places [Kat] could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show. I don’t know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend.”"

We’ll certainly miss Kat in the new season of Euphoria.

Is Alexa Demie in Euphoria season 3?

It hasn’t been confirmed that Maddy won’t appear in the coming season, but the character did mention leaving town, so it’s definitely a possibility. Many fans have speculated that she might be graduating high school which could be an easy out for Alexa Demie to leave the show if she wants to. I would love to see Maddy again, though! I think there’s more to explore with her story. Let’s hope we get an update soon.

At this time, Demie has not spoken publicly about her involvement in Euphoria season 3, to our knowledge.

Is Javon “Wanna” Walton in Euphoria season 3?

Okay, I know they say you need to see the body of a character to know they are dead for sure. But even though we didn’t see Ashtray’s body, I’m pretty sure he did not survive the shooting in the Euphoria season 2 finale. As soon as we learn more about the actor’s involvement in the coming season, we’ll let you know!

Is Eric Dane in Euphoria season 3?

In all honesty, I love Eric Dane, but I think we can all agree that the world would be a better place without Cal Jacobs in it. Dane’s character leaves his family at the end of season 2, but is he gone for good? I hope so! I think his story is done and really don’t see him coming back in season 3.

Is Jacob Elordi in Euphoria season 3?

Now, Cal Jacobs’ story may be over, but we still want to see Nate come back in season 3. Not so much because we love the character, because I think I speak for us all when I say we want Nate to pay for everything that he has done. We’re not sure if Elordi will return or not, but I think it’s a safe bet that he will.

Euphoria season 3 cast

With the exception of Barbie Ferreira, Alexa Demie, Javon “Wanna” Walton, and possible Eric Dane, the rest of the cast will likely return in Euphoria season 3. This includes Zendaya, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.

Sadly, Angus Cloud, who was likely going to return as Fez in Euphoria season 3, died in Oakland, California, on July 31, 2023, according to TMZ.
