How much of a Scooby-Doo fan are you? If you haven’t heard, a new film addition to the decades-long franchise called Trick or Treat Scooby Doo!  The animated movie is available to watch from the comfort of your home right now via Prime Video, where you can rent or purchase it.

The film’s voice cast consists of Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo and Fred, Grey Delisle as Daphne, and Kate Micucci, returning as Velma, who was revealed to be an out LGBTQ+ character in the film according to press coverage. We’re also introduced to a new villain in this film, Coco Diablo, voiced by Myrna Velasco (Star Wars Resistance).

As previously noted, these characters are beloved by many. So it comes as no surprise that Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! will be on every fan’s watchlist in the month of October.

The premise of the film is similar to other capers the group of mystery-solvers have taken on in the past: “Scooby-Doo and the Gang are being hounded by a number of their old foes at Halloween.” This short and simple premise encapsulates every twist and turn that we’re about to see the famed characters embark on as they figure out how to solve this Halloween-themed mystery. While this is a wonderful release for older fans of the show, is this film appropriate for your kids to watch? Let’s find out!

Is Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! appropriate for kids?

The MPAA attached a G rating to this film which means the film is appropriate for people of all ages. As most people know, the Scooby Doo movies are always targeted towards youngsters ages 6 and above but in this new era of cartoons and comedy, are there room for jokes that may or may not fly over their heads?

As always with Scooby-Doo films, you’re bound to see cartoon violence as well as some silly jokes. With this movie being Halloween-themed, the scary moments become a bit more spookier to account for the holiday. There’s also a bit of flirting in the movie, but nothing too disastrous to turn off the TV for.  Watch the trailer down below to see for yourselves:

If you want to watch at home and aren’t sure where your DVD player is, don’t worry as the film is available to buy or rent on Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and Google Play Movies and TV.
