Is Timothée Chalamet at the 2023 Oscars?

Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet has become a bit of a fashion icon over the years for all of his memorable looks on the red carpet, and for a while, he was a staple attendee at all the biggest events during award season. The 27-year-old actor was nominated for an Oscar back in 2018 for his leading role as Elio in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, but surprisingly, he hasn’t gotten any Oscar love since. But even though he isn’t nominated at tonight’s Academy Awards, should his fans expect him to show up and walk the champagne carpet?

While so many of our favorite actors are showing up at the Academy Awards this evening, including Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Elizabeth Olsen, and more, Chalamet is not on the carpet right now, and we don’t expect him to be at the ceremony at all. Because he’s not nominated tonight, we would expect him to be a presenter at the show if he was attending, but that’s not the case.

Plus, thanks to fans on Twitter, fan pages on Instagram, and even Chalamet himself, it’s more than likely we would have seen updates on social media from the actor if he was on his way to the big show. I know, it’s disappointing, especially after he wowed the world at the 2022 Academy Awards with his daring and awesome outfit. If you need a refresher, see it below:

So we’ll more than likely be missing the Oscar-nominated actor at the show tonight, but do we know why? Sadly, a reason for Chalamet’s absence has not been revealed. Maybe we’ll get a confirmation at some point tomorrow or later in the week.

Is Timothée Chalamet filming anything right now? (March 2023)

Of course, the easiest potential explanation for Chalamet’s absence at the 2023 Academy Awards would be that he could be filming a movie. But, it doesn’t look like that’s the case. The New York native has two movies coming up, including Dune: Part Two and Wonka. However, both of those projects have wrapped filming and are in post-production.

In December 2022, Chalamet took to Instagram to announce that filming had wrapped on the highly anticipated Dune sequel, and it was reported by Yahoo! Entertainment that Wonka is now in post-production as well. The actor must have another obligation we don’t know about, either an acting gig or something else.

We’ll certainly miss seeing Chalamet at the show tonight, but we’re sure it’ll be a great time anyway! The 2023 Academy Awards red carpet is going on right now, with the ceremony kicking off at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC.
