7 things to know before watching 911: Lone Star season 5
911: Lone Star is finally about to kick off season 5, so here are a few things to remember about the hit show!
It’s been a long wait for fans of 911: Lone Star. Season 4 wrapped up in May 2023 and the team behind the show were expected to go to work on season 5. Then, the Hollywood strikes caused a massive delay, and by the time they finished, FOX decided to hold the show off until the fall of 2024.
But finally the wait is coming to an end and, given how long it’s been since the show signed off, fans may have forgotten a few things. So here’s a quick refresher on what to know before season 5 hits!
Carlos and TK got married amid tragedy
The big moment of the finale was when Carlos and TK finally tied the knot. Sadly, what should have been a day of joy was instead marked by tragedy. Carlos’ father, Gabriel, was brutally murdered after investigating police corruption. Carlos was naturally rocked by this with TK offering to postpone the wedding but Carlos went through with it to honor his dad.
Carlos nearly blew an undercover police operation hunting the man he thought killed Gabriel before being stopped. Season 5 is likely to have the pair moving on with their lives together, even as Carlos wants answers to his dad’s death. That bond will be needed for the new year.
Judd stepped down from lieutenant
After son Wyatt was in a nasty car accident, Judd was deeply shaken. He decided to step down from the lieutenant position so he could focus on helping Wyatt, who’s now living at his home. Thus, season 5 will have Marjan and Paul competing for the slot. The pair insists it’ll be friendly and they can remain close through it, but it’s not hard to imagine that each of them wanting this top place is going to put a huge strain on that friendship, especially depending on who ultimately gets the job.
Tommy and Trevor were getting closer
After boldly defending her relationship with Trevor in front of his congregation, Tommy brought him as her date for TK and Carlos’ wedding. The pair are getting closer and Tommy has proven she’s not going to be shamed in loving Trevor over his job. That may play more into season 5 and even if we don’t hear wedding bells for these two just yet, it’s good to see Tommy get some romance in her life.
Owen made a difficult goodbye
After already being through an emotional wringer in season 4, Owen got one more blow when his half-brother Robert told him he was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. Rather than waste away slowly, Robert decided to take his own life. Owen knew he couldn’t talk him out of it and instead was at his brother’s side as he breathed his last breathe to die with dignity. That loss is going to affect Owen in season 5 and may be a detriment to him on the job.
Grace is leaving
A major shock for the show is that Sierra McClain has left as Grace. A clip reveals she’s off doing the Lord's work as Judd lets Wyatt and his family stay with him. This makes Jackson Pace a regular as Wyatt will be taking Grace’s spot as a dispatcher. Judd will obviously be a bit uprooted without his wife and this may push him to take back his old job even as he helps Wyatt through his own health problems.
Carlos is taking on a new job and partner
Carlos will be stepping up this year as he follows in his dad’s footsteps to become a Texas Ranger. That will have him partnering up with Campbell (Parker Young). They have interesting chemistry and will grow to become friends. However, Carlos is still intent on finding out who was behind Gabriel's murder and if his dad was right about there being corruption in the department.
That will put a strain on his new marriage while TK will be distracted by the arrival of his half-brother Jonah. So, just as the two finally tied the knot, their dual problems will be a huge challenge for their union.
It’s the last season of 911: Lone Star
Sadly, after months of rumors, it’s confirmed season 5 is the last one for the series. It’s a disappointment to be sure, especially as it’s unclear if the producers were able to craft a proper series finale. We will see epic events like a train crash and a poison cloud and plenty of exciting subplots abounding. So, hopefully, season 5 sends 911: Lone Star off in style to retain the fun fans have long loved about it.
911: Lone Star season 5 premieres Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on Fox.
