The tropical vibes in Hawai’i always set such a great mood during an intimidating time as the American Idol Top 24 get ready to take the stage at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Ko Olina Hawai’i. No one is heading home tonight, but these performances are key as it's the first time in the season where voting opens (find out how to vote here!) and viewers get to decide who stays to move on to the Top 20, and whose Idol journey comes to an end.

Because it's such a big group, the competition series has split the performances into two nights, with 12 contestants taking the stage tonight, April 7, 2024, while the other dozen Idol hopefuls get to show us what they've got tomorrow, April 8. Both two-hour episodes begin at 8 p.m. ET each day on ABC, and then are available to stream on Hulu the next day. So who's set to perform this evening? Read on below for the full list!

We've got two out of the three Platinum Ticket winners Abi Carter and Julia Gagnon going up first. They, as well as the rest of the contestants will be mentored by singer-songwriter Tori Kelly, who will also perform and join "the judges on the panel," per a press release.

One of my favorites and who I'm rooting for is 16-year-old Hailey Mia from Clifton, New Jersey. She's so young but is a powerhouse, giving us chills with her audition of "Rise" by American Idol judge Katy Perry. She will also take the stage this evening. Here's the full list of contestants performing on American Idol 2024 tonight:

  • Blake Proehl, 25 from Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Abi Carter, 21 from Indio, California (Platinum Ticket)
  • Kayko, 23 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • Quintavious, 22 from Franklin, Tennessee
  • Kaibrienne Richins, 20 from Henefer, Utah
  • Will Moseley, 23 from Hazlehurst, Georgia
  • McKenna Breinholt, 25 from Gilbert, Arizona
  • Jordan Anthony, 19 from Perth, Australia
  • Julia Gagnon, 21 from Cumberland, Maine (Platinum Ticket)
  • Hailey Mia, 16 from Clifton, New Jersey
  • Nya, 28 from Manhattan, New York
  • Jayna Elise, 22 from Washington, D.C.

Tomorrow on Monday night, the third Platinum Ticket recipient Odell Burton Jr., as well as fan-favorites 15-year-old Triston Harper and Ajii from Brooklyn, New York are set to perform with the second half of the Top 24. From that bunch, I'm personally rooting for Ajii. I think he has a great personality with a voice that gives me goosebumps every time. I really hope Ajii makes it far in the competition this season!

IAM TONGI

While Tori Kelly is performing, make sure you don't miss another exciting performance that has nothing to do with our votes, and that's American Idol 2023 winner Iam Tongi! He returns to his home state to serenade us, and I absolutely can't wait! It hasn't been announced which song he's performing, though the artist does have a new tune titled "Why Kiki?" that might be what he'll serenade us with. We'll find out soon enough!

American Idol season 22 airs Sunday and Monday nights on ABC. Stream episodes the next day on Hulu. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote as we continue to bring you news and updates about the competition series.
