When does voting begin on American Idol 2024? (A step by step guide on how to vote this season)

The pressure is on for the Top 24 contestants on American Idol 2024! Now, we've reached the point in the competition series where the responsibility of who goes through and who's sent home moves away from the judges and falls on us at home. We're almost there! Voting officially starts this week on Sunday, April 7, 2024 for American Idol season 22, and opens up at the start of each episode at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Do you already know which contestants are getting yours? I have a couple of favorites - Kaibrienne Richins, Hailey Mia, as well as Platinum Ticket winners Odell Burton Jr. and Abi Carter. I can't wait to see how far they make it in the competition! With voting starting on April 7, that does mean it's the "Top 24 at Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii Part #1" episode. 12 contestants will take the stage after being mentored by Tori Kelly, while the final half will give it their all to earn our votes the next day on Monday, April 8, 2024 for "Top 24 at Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii Part #2." They will be mentored by Jelly Roll.

There are three easy ways for fans to vote from home: by text, online, or through the American Idol app. So what are the rules? They're pretty simple. Viewers are able to cast a total of 10 votes via each method for a total of 30 votes per contestant. So for example if I wanted all 30 of my votes to go to Abi Carter, then I could cast 10 by text, 10 on the show's website, and 10 on the app.

Those of you voting have to be a resident of the U.S, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands, and at least 16 years of age. Now that we've reached the live shows in Hollywood, voting closes before the last commercial break of a new live episode, and we'll continue to vote each week throughout the season to determine who's the next American Idol winner! How to vote on American Idol by text (Contestant names and numbers)

As mentioned above, voting will open up at the very start of each episode. When it does, American Idol will provide the number associated with each contestant. Then, all you have to do is text that number to "21523." For example, Carter's number is '8.' So you need to text '8' to "21523." Be sure to bookmark this page as we'll be updating it with those numbers and voting information each week during the episodes.

You can vote by text by following these steps:

• Open the Messages app on phone or device with texting capabilities
• Start composing a new message
• Enter "21523" in the 'To' section
• Type in the number of the contestant you want to vote for
• Click Send, and your vote will go through!

If you want to do multiple votes for the same contestant, then you'll need to send their designated number multiple times depending on how many votes you want to cast. Participating phone carriers in the U.S. include AT&T, Boost, Cellular One, T-Mobile, Verizon, Virgin Mobile, and many more. A full list of carriers can be found here.

How to vote online or the app

Whether you choose to vote using the competition show's website, the app, or both, an ABC account is required. An email is used to sign up, and then you can choose your password. As a reminder, a total of 10 votes can be cast via each method. I personally prefer the app because it has a lot of content like videos and the 'Fan Feed' section. But it's also convenient because there's the 'Vote' tab and a 'Talent' one for you to see each of the contestants' information.

You can sign up for an ABC account online by following these steps:

• Head over to the American Idol voting page to access the Sign Up page
• Enter your email
• Fill in your first name, last name, and choose a password
• Choose 'Create Account'
• Find the contestant(s) you want to vote for
• Click on their name and allocate the number of votes
• Click 'Save" for votes to go through

You can sign up for an ABC account on the app following these steps:

• Visit the App Store or Google Play Store on your device
• Download the American Idol app
• Enter your email
• Fill in your first name, last name, and choose a password
• Choose 'Create Account'
• Find the contestant(s) you want to vote for
• Click on their name and allocate the number of votes
