Bold and the Beautiful confirms Katie and Carter's split

It seems I was correct back at the tail end of May about The Bold and the Beautiful quietly breaking up Katie Logan and Carter Walton. June 10's episode confirmed that the pair have split, amicably considering they had a conversation in Forrester Creations' Design Office all about Katie's feelings concerning the news that Bill is Luna's father.

I'm sure this is disappointing for Karter fans who hoped that the writers would steer clear of putting us once more on Katie and Bill's merry-go-round. But the spectre of Batie's romance has always been in the middle of Karter's relationship. When the soap first gave the pair a go, it was Katie's tendency to always be available when Bill needed her that got in the way. She couldn't seem to shake the hold he had on her life even though they were no longer together.

It did look like the former couple were getting somewhere prior to this quiet break-up. Katie was putting herself first and pursuing a romance with Carter in spite of Bill's pleas that she try again with him. She even left Bill emotionally distraught in his home the last time he begged her to give him another chance, choosing instead not to fall into their toxic cycle.

But, when it was revealed that Bill wasn't in love with the infamous Sheila Carter and had, in fact, been helping the FBI on an investigation meant to pin Sheila for first degree murder, Katie did something unexpected. She kissed Bill with Carter just mere feet away, oblivious to what was happening in the living room of the Forrester Mansion. That very soapy moment happened and then it fizzled away like it was bit a figment of our imaginations.

Now, Katie's conflicted feelings on Bill are back and her opening up to Carter about it, when she was distracted during a meeting, has revealed that she's single. She told Carter that he was her last relationship, the past tense indicating that the two are no longer together. The break-up must have occurred some time in the past as neither of the pair seem too broken up about it.

Carter asked Katie how she was feeling with this change to Bill's family structure and she was honest about not knowing how to feel. She's sure her son, Will, won't have an issue and neither will Bill's other sons--Liam and Wyatt. But she's stuck on not knowing Poppy that well and sorting through her thoughts on what it means that Bill has yet another adult child he was unaware that he fathered. Will is his only child that he's known since birth.

Katie recognizes that this doesn't affect her life all that much but it's understandable that all of this is coming as a shock particularly when she was already dealing with Bill being in a serious relationship with someone else. This doesn't necessarily mean a love triangle is coming, but it's doubtful that Katie will be sitting on the sidelines when it comes to Bill's life moving forward on The Bold and the Beautiful.
