Last night, the Top 14 of American Idol 2024 took to the stage singing a song from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the Hollywood stage in the hopes of earning our votes at home. Well, they were revealed, and we said goodbye to Jordan Anthony and Nya who didn't make it in. With those goodbyes, that does mean we got the Top 12 of the season.

Each week we move forward in the competition series, inching closer and closer to finding out who the American Idol winner of season 22 will be. The finale is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2024, per Deadline. Before we get to that point, we still have a ways to go as some more need to move on and others go home. So who's the Top 10 of American Idol 2024?

This evening, the Top 12 were mentored by Meghan Trainor as they prepared to perform a song of their pick from of a Billboard #1 hit live for the chance to make it into the Top 10. The night started with one of two Platinum Ticket winners still in the competition, and that's fan-favorite Abi Carter singing "All Too Well" by Taylor Swift and absolutely dominating! Mia Matthews performed "Over You" by Miranda Lambert.

Second Platinum Ticket recipient Julia Gagnon serenaded us with "Something in the Orange" by Zach Bryan. I think my favorite performance of the night was Kayko who shared his rendition of "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye ft. Kimbra. He absolutely rocked it! Thankfully, all these talented contestants made it through! Below we shared the full list of the Top 10 of American Idol 2024! (Note – the following results were updated live during the airing of the episode):

  • Abi Carter, 21 from Indio, California (Platinum Ticket)
  • McKenna Breinholt, 25 from Gilbert, Arizona
  • Will Moseley, 23 from Hazlehurst, Georgia
  • Kayko, 23 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • Kaibrienne Richins, 20 from Henefer, Utah
  • Mia Matthews, 19 from Centre, Alabama

Who went home tonight?

Unfortunately each new episode brings with it goodbyes, and tonight it was Roman Collins and Jayna Elise who were eliminated from American Idol season 22. It's a shame as their performances of "Roar" by Katy Perry and "Diamonds" by Rihanna, respectively, really stood out to me and I think they deserved to continue. But that's how it goes on the singing show. Sometimes very talented artists head home.

But that doesn't mean they won't continue on to find success after Idol! Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta performed tonight, and has gone on to become a success. And he's not the only one. Others like Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson didn't win their respective seasons, but have gone on to have great music careers. Hopefully the same happens for Roman and Jayna!

Next week on Sunday, April 28, 2024 the Top 10 will become the Top 8. But before those voting results come in, the Top 10 will "take viewers on a nostalgic journey" as the contestants choose a tune that was released in their birth year. I like this theme and can't wait to see what songs our favorites choose! Be sure to tune in to the two-hour episode live at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, or stream it on Hulu the next day.

Stay tuned to Hidden Remote as we continue to provide news and updates about American Idol!
