Last night was brutal as the Top 24 officially became the Top 20 on American Idol! And tonight, even less and less contestants are sticking around. That's because the Top 14 of American Idol 2024 has been revealed, based on our votes as well as the decision of judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. So who's continuing on in the competition?

Top 14 American Idol 2024 contestants

The live episode from Hollywood saw 10 of the Idol hopefuls remain on the show after the results from yesterday's votes came in. The remaining four spots in the Top 14 were chosen by the judges.

As the night unfolded, Ryan Seacrest called artists up one by one to reveal whether they were in America's Top 10 or if they'd be fighting for a place in the Top 14 as part of the 10 contestants in the danger zone. While every contestant performed for America's votes, the 10 contestants who found themselves in the danger zone had an added layer of pressure in having to also perform for the judges' support knowing only four of them would make it through and they'd have to wow the judges.

Clearly, McKenna Breinholt is a fan favorite amongst viewers as she was the first to secure a place in the Top 10 as announced by Ryan early in the episode making her the first contestant through to the next round thanks to America's votes. As the night passed, the Top 14 was filled out with America's Top 10 and the judges' four saves giving us a Top 14 that was full of talented artists.

Below is the full list of this year's Top 14! (Note – the following results were updated live during the airing of the episode):

  • McKenna Breinholt, 25 from Gilbert, Arizona
  • Jack Blocker, 25 from Dallas, Texas

  • Jordan Anthony, 19 from Perth, Australia
  • Nya, 28 from Manhattan, New York
  • Roman Collins, 24 from Long Beach, California

Which contestants went home tonight on American Idol?

In a major cut, American Idol said goodbye to a total of six hopefuls tonight. The results were revealed in dramatic fashion as half of the Top 20 found themselves sent to the danger zone over the course of the episode, forced to give the performance of a lifetime to make it into the Top 14 with some help from the judges.

Over the course of the episode, these 10 artists were revealed to be in jeopardy of going home were:

  • Quintavious, 22 from Franklin, Tennessee
  • Jordan Anthony, 19 from Perth, Australia
  • Kennedy Reid, 23 from New Albany, Indiana
  • Jennifer Jeffries, 18 from Starkville, Mississippi
  • Ajii, 27 from Brooklyn, New York
  • Nya, 28 from Manhattan, New York
  • Odell Burton Jr., 29 from Austin, Texas (Platinum Ticket)
  • Mackenzie Sol, 23 from Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Jayna Elise, 22 from Washington, D.C.
  • Roman Collins, 24 from Long Beach, California

The following six contestants' Idol journeys came to an end this evening:

  • Quintavious
  • Kennedy Reid
  • Jennifer Jeffries,
  • Ajii
  • Odell Burton Jr.
  • Mackenzie Sol

With the elimination of Odell Burton Jr., the first Platinum Ticket artist of the season has been sent home and we're actually a bit surprised the judges didn't save him. This season has a lot of talented artists though, so it's a tight race and we're bound to lose more amazing artists as the season continues.

Next week on Sunday, April 21, 2024, it's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night on Idol! Performing live once again, the Top 14 will be singing songs from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, with voting open during the episode. By the end of the night, two contestants will be headed home as we find out who makes it into the Top 12. All this stress is not good for my heart, you guys. Who do you think will make it through?

Stay tuned to Hidden Remote as we continue to bring you news and updates about American Idol 2024 each week!
