The Fall TV season is just around the corner which means we're starting to see an uptick in casting news. FBI is the latest to have an update. While there isn't much known about season 7's storyline we do know that we'll be down an agent.

Deadline reports Katherine Renee Kane is exiting the series. She made the following statement about her departure: "It was time to look towards new creative endeavors. I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best."

Kane will appear in at least one episode in the upcoming season. Hopefully, it'll be a farewell episode that allows fans to say goodbye to Tiffany Wallace in a way that feels true to her story and that potentially leaves the door open for her to come back to the show for guest spots.

Since season 6 ended with a scene that had viewers questioning whether Tiffany's killing of Hakeem was lawful or not, it's possible that the procedural will be revisiting that plot point even though it seemed like the book was closed on that event. Hakeem was shown to have a gun on his person and Maggie didn't have a vantage point that would have allowed her to see what Tiffany did. It wasn't labeled a bad shooting.

With Hakeem no longer in the picture, it also looked like FBI was moving on from Tiffany's immense guilt over the death of Agent Hobbs but circling back to that storyline could give reason for her exit from the team. If she's still struggling to keep her head on straight in the field, she may get moved to another division or decide she needs some time to heal.

Or her departure could get explained another way. Right now, what's known is that a new agent will be joining the team to fill Tiffany's absence. Per Deadline, Lisette Olivera has been tapped to play Syd, a Behaviorial Analysis Unit agent. She'll be stepping in as Scola's partner in the field. Her full background hasn't been shared but the outlet's sources have disclosed that "there are layers to her personality and resume that will allow her to hit the streets as a field agent seamlessly" despite previously being a desk agent.

FBI has had two major cast exits since the procedural began its run in 2018. Sela Ward left after one season of playing Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier and Ebonée Noel, who played Kristen Chazal, departed the show after two seasons. Both exits were done without fanfare in the show and the team moved on without a hitch as Alana de la Garza (Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille), Katherine Renee Kane, and John Boyd (Special Agent Stuart Scola) joined the cast.

Shantel VanSanten, who plays Special Agent Nina Chase (previously a recurring character), also left the flagship ahead of season 6 but it was to transition to FBI: Most Wanted, and she still makes appearances on FBI for crossovers. There's even one (or perhaps two!) planned for this television season.

We'll keep you posted as more news comes in about season 7. The show returns on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote and follow us on X!
