How to watch Oppenheimer before the Oscars
While the Oscars are still a ways off, airing March 10 on ABC, it's never too early to watch the nominated films ahead of the awards show. And that includes Oppenheimer! Well, the Academy Awards hasn't announced its list of nominees just yet. But, there's just no way the awards show won't include the movie on its nominations list. And so, we have great news!
Since its debut in theaters on July 21, 2023, the film has only been available to watch online if you rent or buy the production. Well, that's about to change! Oppenheimer will begin streaming Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2024 on Peacock. This makes sense as the movie's production company is Universal Pictures, which owns the streaming service.
How to sign up for Peacock
Peacock is honestly one of my favorite streamers, and now it's an extra bonus that Oppenheimer is being added to its catalog! The platform offers either the Premium plan (with ads) for $5.99/month or you can choose Premium Plus (no ads) for $11.99/month. We shared the steps to sign up below:
- Visit the Peacock sign up page
- Choose Premium or Premium Plus
- Create an account by entering a username and a password
- Enter your chosen payment method
- Login to start watching!
The Golden Globes started off awards season in 2024, and Oppenheimer did amazing! The film won five Golden Globes, all in major categories. The cinematic production was the champ in Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Director - Motion Picture (Christopher Nolan), Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture - Drama - Cillian Murphy, Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role in any Motion Picture - Robert Downey Jr., and Best Original Score - Motion Picture (Ludwig Göransson).
With its Golden Globe success, I have no doubt the film will be nominated and take home wins at the Oscars as well! The production is about real-life physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer who develops the first atomic bomb. The film also stars Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh.
While we wait for the arrival of Oppenheimer on the streamer and for the Oscars, there's even more Christopher Nolan films coming to Peacock on Feb. 1! Those are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Dunkirk, Inception, and Memento.
