Fire Country fans are excited for the upcoming episode, which will act as a “backdoor pilot” for a possible spin-off. The plot line has the local sheriffs called in when a Three Rock inmate escapes. Leading the pack is Mickey Fox, who turns out to be the estranged sister of Sharon (Diane Farr).

Playing the role is Morena Baccarin. The actress has been a veteran with a few notable movie roles such as Deadpool but television is where she’s most famous. She’s had numerous guest star roles in various series, including voice work in Justice League Unlimited. As the chances of her getting a new series look likely, here’s a look at some other notable TV roles for Baccarin fans and how they’ve led to possibly her biggest series yet.

Firefly

Baccarin had one of the best breakouts imaginable in the 2002 Fox series that was a flop in its time but now regarded as a cult classic. She was alluring and gorgeous as Inara, a “Companion” who often got into steamy situations but always looked glamorous doing it. She also possessed a sharp wit and nice banter with the other crew members, especially Mal (Nathan Fillion).

Baccarin was a highlight of this fun show and reprised the role for the 2005 feature film Serenity. It marked a great part for her that soon set the standard for her as a genre favorite. Firefly streaming on Hulu.

Stargate SG-1

Baccarin got involved in another sci-fi franchise by being the main antagonist of the final season of the long-running series Stargate: SG-1. Her character was unique, the child of Val (Claudia Black) who grew to adulthood in hours. Baccarin was perfect as an alien creature in some nice outfits and clashing with the team.

Adria was obsessed with converting the galaxy to her alien religion, using her seductive wiles along with brutal attacks. She could be sadistic with one character calling her “a spoiled brat with a god complex” and Baccarin sparked the series and two spin-off movies to be one of the show’s most memorable villains. Stargate SG-1 streaming on Prime Video.

V 2009

This short-lived ABC remake of the cult 1980s TV series was a great starring turn by Baccarin. The Visitors are an alien race who appear on Earth with their leader Anna (Baccarin) claiming they want to help humanity. But a cell of humans discover the Visitors are really lizard-like creatures who plan to conquer Earth and turn humanity into their food.

Baccarin’s performance was notable as Anna is usually cool and emotionless and has some wicked turns. Yet when she does cut loose with her emotions, it’s gripping and Baccarin handles the special effects well too. Sadly, the show was canceled on a cliffhanger but Baccarin’s face on the posters hints at her amazing turn. V streaming on Tubi

The Mentalist

The long-running CBS series starred Simon Baker as a fake psychic who aids the police. Usually, his Thomas Jane was the smartest guy around and able to outwit anyone…except Erica Flynn. Sure, Jane proved she killed someone so she went to jail for manslaughter but Erica got under his skin with her playful games.

Baccarin was wonderful in the role, making you guess how much of her actions are real and how much she truly likes Jane. She enjoys their great game and manages to pull tricks for an escape. While Jane busted her in the end, Baccarin was always a highlight as one of the most worthy adversaries on this compelling show. The Mentalist streaming on Hulu and Max.

Homeland

Baccarin got major critical raves in this Emmy-winning Showtime drama. Her opening scene is very steamy, hooking up with a soldier just as she gets word that her long believed dead husband (Damien Lewis) has been found alive. The first seasons play on them trying to get back together and Baccarin selling this woman torn between two men.

The fact that Lewis might just be a sleeper terrorist hardly helps matters. Baccarin gets great material, earning an Emmy nomination for her work and showing true acting chops. While she was absent from the later seasons, her performance here is among the many reasons Homeland was such a hit show. Homeland streaming on Showtime and Hulu.

Gotham

Fox’s adaptation of the Batman mythos turned into one of the most delightfully goofy shows on television. At first, Baccarin was the straight-laced Leslie Tompkins, a doctor helping out Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie, who became Baccarin’s husband). But, as with so much else on the show, Leslie underwent some wild transformations.

By season 4, the formerly law-abiding doctor was now teaming up with the Riddler, getting involved in gang wars, firing off a gun, and more. Baccarin managed to make it all work, going along with the madness of the show and watching Leslie embrace her action side is another reason Gotham is such a blast. Gotham seasons 1-5 are streaming on Tubi.

The Endgame - Season 1

The Endgame

Baccarin’s last TV series was this short-lived NBC show that could best be described as a female-led version of The Blacklist. Long-standing criminal mastermind Elena Federova (Baccarin) is arrested but when a series of heists hit New York, FBI agent Val Turner (Ryan Michelle Bathe) realizes Elena is controlling everything from her cell. The two engage in a battle of wits as more crimes occur.

With a lush accent and some gorgeous outfits, Baccarin does eat up the screen as every episode shows Elena playing a long game. Her banter with Turner is fun to watch to keep folks guessing as to what she’s truly after. The show lasted only one season but it showed Baccarin’s star power which she can use for future roles. The Endgame available to buy on Apple TV+.
