Slàinte Mhath! Outlander season 7 part 2 finally has a release date window on Starz

Gather 'round, Sassenachs! After months and months of waiting, we finally have an idea of when Outlander season 7 part 2 is arriving on Starz. We've known that the final eight episodes of the seventh season would arrive in 2024, but we didn't know exactly when. Well, now the network has given us a release date window. I'm so giddy and excited!

Outlander season 7 part 2 arrives in November 2024. Unfortunately, Starz hasn't shared the exact release date yet, but this news hasn't depleted my excitement at all. That's because since the announcement that season 7 would be split into two parts due to its supersized 16-episode season, us fans have known that Outalnder season 7B was coming in 2024. And it's been a while that we've waited for an update with season 7 part 1 having premiered back in June 2023, and episode 8 debuting in August.

New images from Outlander season 7 part 2

Starz shared the exciting announcement on the network's Instagram account, and accompanied it with some new behind the scenes images from what I'm going to guess is season 7 episode 9! From the looks of it, the story picks up right where we left off in the midseason finale. As a reminder, our beloved Jamie and Claire have finally arrived in Scotland and are back home, with Young Ian in tow! They haven't been back to the beautiful Highland country in years. Plus, there's a photo of Brianna hugging Mandy looking distraught, rightfully so as Jemmy was kidnapped by Rob Cameron and taken through the Stones. She stayed behind while Roger and Buck MacKenzie travel back in time after them. Yup, these characters really do go through the wringer.

In another image, Lord John Grey is looking as sullen as ever. Can this man just be happy for a little bit? His smiles are so rare. To cap it off is a charming photo of the Fraser bunch now in Scotland, with a huge smile on Young Ian's face. That's definitely how we all look and feel right now!

Predicted release date for Outlander season 7B

To be honest November is much later than I anticipated and a bit disappointing. I wasn't expecting the network to hold the episodes for so long. Especially since they're done and ready to go. Now that we've reached almost the end of March, I was at least hoping for a summer 2024 release date since the midseason finale came out in August 2023. By the time Outlander season 7 part 2 premieres, it will be more than a year of not getting new episodes.

But, hey. What are we going to do? All we can do is wait, and that's what us fans of the historical drama are great at doing. This isn't our first rodeo. If I had to take a guess, I think Outlander season 7B could potentially premiere on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. The seventh season was airing on Fridays on Starz, and the series usually debuts new seasons/midseason premieres either at the start or middle of the month. Since season 7 came out June 16, 2023, I think the Nov. 15, 2024 predicted release date is a fair assumption.

As our sister site Claire & Jamie suggests, there might be a couple of reasons why the final episodes of season 7 are coming in late fall. The writers and actors strikes that happened in summer and fall 2023 affected many productions, including potentially the writers on Outlander as they couldn't make any final rewrites or reshoots. This also means that work on Outlander season 8 (the final season!) was probably delayed since writers weren't working at this time. Per C&J, this could be Starz's way of keeping the Droughtlander between the two seasons as short as possible.

Hey, at least there's Sam Heughan's (Jamie Fraser) The Couple Next Door to look forward to coming sometime in early 2024 on Starz for us U.S. viewers! The show already debuted in the UK, but hasn't been available in the U.S. yet. There is also no release date at this time. But, it is expected to come out before Outlander season 7 part 2, so that's some great material to have during this longer than anticipated Droughtlander!

Plus the Outlander content is just going to keep giving with the prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, currently in production featuring the stories of both Jamie and Claire's parents. We have some exciting stuff to look forward to, so hang in there Sassenachs! Season 7 part 2 will be here before we know it.
