Quinta Brunson net worth: How much the Abbott Elementary creator and multi-hyphenated talent is worth in 2024
Abbott Elementary is one of the best shows on television right now, and one of the best comedies ever! The series has gotten a lot of recognition since it first premiered, as it should. From its comedic writing, great characters, emotional beats, and more, there's so much the sitcom offers. And it's all thanks to the mind of Quinta Brunson.
This talented gal created, executive produces, co-writes, and stars in the ABC comedy series. There's so many hats she wears, and she does it all flawlessly! The show first debuted in December 2021, and was an instant hit with viewers and critics. And it's Abbott Elementary that's helped Brunson shoot her way to stardom. So how much is the talent's net worth?
Quinta Brunson net worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Quinta Brunson's net worth is currently $9 million in 2024. This really isn't surprising as she has the multiple credits to her name mentioned above when it comes to Abbott Elementary. It's not known how much the multi-talent is paid per episode of the ABC hit. Though as the site mentions, eventually when the series is over (which we hope isn't for a long, long time!) and/or goes into syndication, she could be making a lot more money in royalties.
The large net worth doesn't just come from her television work. In 2022, Brunson became the new face of skin care brand Olay, which definitely helps contribute to the sum. Plus in more exciting news, Brunson signed a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, who co-produces Abbott Elementary. This allows her to "create, develop, and produce original programming" on all of their platforms, per Variety. As of this writing, it doesn't seem like she's done anything other than Abbott for the company just yet.
Brunson is 34 years old and the star's birthday is Dec. 21, 1989. She is married to sales manager Kevin Jay Anik, and the couple tied the knot in September 2021. Per Rolling Stone, the actress shared that she's still getting used to the idea of her success.
"It’s weird how I was like, ‘I’ll probably live in apartments for the rest of my life. I never thought I’d have a house. Isn’t that crazy? But I will always have goals that will push me to another place creatively, because goals make me feel like life is worth living."
It's that perseverance, drive, and motivation that has helped the creative get to where she is today, and I look forward to what else she has in store! Though in the meantime, let's take a look back at some of her other projects and successes.
Filmography and awards
As mentioned above, Brunson is talented in so many things! She's an actress, writer, producer, and comedian. She first gained recognition and a following for self-producing her Instagram series Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date in 2014. This eventually lead to her becoming a video producer for BuzzFeed Video, as well as selling two web series for BuzzFeed Motion Pictures: Broke and Up for Adoption in 2016.
Two years later, the multi-talent decided to move on and took on a couple of roles for pilots that did not get picked up. Things turned around for Brunson in 2019 when she landed the 3-episode recurring guest roles of Dr. Charlie Collier and her twin sister Laila in iZombie. That year also brought her starring in and writing for HBO sketch comedy series A Black Lady Sketch Show. She was a main cast member in the first season, and guest starred in the third.
Her other acting credits including voiceovers in Big Mouth, Lazor Wulf, Magical Girl Friendship Squad, and Cars on the Road. And as mentioned before, in 2021 we were introduced to Abbott and our lives were changed for the better. What makes the comedy special is that Brunson herself is from Philadelphia, so many of the themes and elements explored in the episodes come from someone whose talking about her home state. And I think that's what makes it special and heartfelt.
At the 2024 Emmys this past January, Brunson won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Abbott Elementary. This was the first time a Black woman won the award since Isabel Sanford took home the win over 40 years ago for her role as Louise "Weezy" Jefferson in The Jeffersons. The year before that, she was also the first Black woman to be nominated in three comedy categories.
Abbott Elementary season 3 airs new episodes Wednesdays on ABC, and stream on Hulu the next day.
