The American Idol Top 3 results are in! Here's who's headed to the season 22 finals
The day is finally here! Somehow, season 22 of American Idol just flew by and we've reached the point in the singing competition series where the Top 3 of American Idol 2024 have been revealed based on our votes! This evening, the Top 5 - Platinum Ticket winner Abi Carter, Emmy Russell, Triston Harper, Jack Blocker, and Will Moseley - were mentored by Kane Brown, and sang their hearts out during the fan-favorite Disney Night round.
Judge Katy Perry, per usual, dressed for the occasion and did a great reveal. First she walked out as Princess Aurora, and then transformed into Cinderella in front of our very eyes. So magical! But moving back to the contestants, three lucky hopefuls moved forward while we had to say goodbye to two fan-favorites. It was tonight's performances that determined which of them have made it to the finals. So what are the results? Read on below!
American Idol results: The Top 3 contestants who are headed to the finale
Here's the official Top 3 of American Idol 2024! (Note – the following results were updated live during the airing of the episode):
- Will Moseley
- Abi Carter
- Jack Blocker
Abi Carter sounded like a true Disney princess herself. This girl's voice is pure magic. Disney Night certainly suited her, singing "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid. It was definitely my favorite performance of the night! Her second choice was “The Chain” from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. All I have to say is that honestly, I really think it’s Abi who’s going to win next week. What do you think?
One of my favorites this season, Jack Blocker, was amazing as always with his rendition of "Nobody's Fool" from Cars 2. Just like what judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie said, this guy is all about the swagger. But in the most endearing way! And he’s certainly nobody’s fool. His second song of the night, “Space Oddity” from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny kept my eyes glued to the screen and made me emotional for some reason! Loved it. I think Jack is going to be the season 22 runner-up. What about you?
Finally, Will Mosely did something a little bit different and mixed it up with "The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy" from Toy Story 4. Now this move could have been risky at this point in the competition, but I think it paid off. He ended the night with “Born to Be Wild” by D3: The Mighty Ducks, which I think was a much better performance. He really did rock it. But to be honest from all the competitors left, Will was my least favorite. I really think Emmy or Triston deserved the third spot instead of going home. Speaking of...
Which contestants were eliminated tonight?
The two singers who went home:
- Emmy Russell
- Triston Harper
Emmy Russell took the stage with another favorite performance of mine from the night - "The Climb" from Hannah Montana: The Movie. It's no secret that this Idol hopeful is shy and timid, but once she's on the stage she oozes confidence. Since we first met her, she’s grown so much this competition and this song embodies her journey. Her second song of the night was "Carried Me With You" from Onward. She sounded and looked great for this performance, though "The Climb" is the one I preferred from her. She did amazing tonight, it's hard to see her go.
Triston Harper took on a country twist of the classic The Princess and the Frog tune "Almost There." It was a fun performance, but I really think he rocked “'Life Is A Highway' from Cars. It’s an iconic tune and Triston managed to make it his own in such a great way. That was truly his song and a good choice on his end. He's managed to tug on our hearts from the start, and has a really special relationship with his mom. I'm sure he's going to go on to do great things. Goodbye, Triston. *Cue the crying*
