Young Sheldon season 7 is not new tonight on CBS (Here's when the show comes back)

Bad news Young Sheldon fans. Since season 7 premiered in February 2024, there haven't been any breaks between episodes. Each week, there's been a new story from the comedy. Well unfortunately, tonight, as well as next week, there won't be a new episode of The Big Bang Theory prequel.

Young Sheldon season 7 will not air new episodes on March 21 or March 28. That means the show doesn't come back until April. So why is that the case? It's to make room on CBS for March Madness. The first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship: Oakland vs. Kentucky and NC State vs. Texas Tech airs this evening at 8 p.m. ET instead. This is of course Young Sheldon's typical time slot.

Then next week on March 28, there will be the Regional Semifinal starting at the same time. Other CBS shows are affected on those two Thursday nights as well including Ghosts, So Help Me Todd, and Elsbeth. Sometimes this happens and sports cuts into the entertainment broadcast schedule. So all we can do is be patient and wait it out.

When does Young Sheldon return?

So when is there going to be a new episode exactly? Don't worry, we won't have to wait too long. As mentioned above, the show will be taking a two-week break. So a new Young Sheldon episode airs Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The installment is available to watch live on the network, as well as if you have a Paramount+ with Showtime subscription. Those with the Essential tier will have to wait until the next day on Friday, April 5 to tune in.

I'm not expecting any more breaks after this since we know season 7 has a total of 14 episode, and the series finale date is Thursday, May 16, 2024. On April 4, we'll be on episode 6 of the season, which means CBS has to air one new installment weekly going forward to get to the finale date. As a reminder, the series finale will be one hour with two back-to-back episodes. Though if you do the math, from now up until May 16, it's only 13 episodes. So I wonder if we're going to get another night before the finale with two back-to-back installments. Hmm, hmm, hmm.

Season 7 episode 6, "Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning,” sees conflict arise between Mary and Mandy's mom, Audrey, per the synopsis. As Georgie and Mandy start planning their wedding, the two mothers have different ideas of how to do things as Mary is a Baptist and Audrey is a Catholic. And in the middle of it all, CeeCee gets "caught in the middle." I was wondering when Georgie and Mandy would start talking about the wedding, so this is exciting! Though hopefully things between the grandmothers don't get too out of hand with baby CeeCee in the middle.

Young Sheldon season 7 airs new episodes Thursday nights on CBS, and streams the next day on Peacock. The one-hour series finale arrives May 16, 2024.
