Sophia Bush is scrubbing into Grey’s Anatomy! Find out who she’s playing in the hit drama here!

Grey’s Anatomy has a great habit of bringing in some good actors for recurring roles that often turn into regulars. Last season, Natalie Morales joined the show as Dr. Monica Beltran, who’s now a regular face. The Season 21 premiere brought back Dr. Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha), who hadn’t been seen since Season 7. Her return was short-lived, as the latest episode had Heron departing when Bailey took back her job.

Grey’s will undergo a cast shift soon as Midori Francis will soon be departing as intern Mika Yasuda. An upcoming episode introduces Mika’s sister Chloe (Julia Rose), who checks in as a patient, and this could be a plotline to write off the character.

It’s fun seeing some actors pop in for roles meant to be short, only to become more popular and eventually join the cast as regulars. Now, Grey’s is bringing in a bigger name in Sophia Bush and the promise of a good storyline for her!

Who is Sophia Bush playing on Grey’s Anatomy?

As reported by Deadline, Sophia Bush will join the show in the sixth episode of Season 21, airing on Nov. 7. Bush will play Dr. Cass Beckman, described as “an amiable, fun and a little messy around the edges trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian whose husband David Beckman is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan.” It’s uncertain yet if David will also appear in the episode or not. It looks like Beckman is hired on to help the surgery department on cases.

Bush is best known for her breakout role as Brooke Davis in the WB/CW teen dramedy One Tree Hill. Her OTH co-star Hilarie Burton had a memorable guest turn in Season 9 as Lauren Boswell, the doctor who famously had a one-night stand with Arizona.

Bush also starred as Detective Erin Lindsay for the first four seasons of Chicago PD. Bush does have experience playing a doctor as her last starring TV role was in the short-lived 2022 CBS drama Good Sam. That shows she has the experience to play a doctor for this show and may even still have her old lab coat to use.

The role right now is said to be recurring, so possibly, Bush will only be around for a few episodes. Bush and Burton did announce they’re involved in a planned OTH sequel series, which could mean she won’t be joining Grey’s as a regular. Yet just a guest star turn by her can be a good spark to an already promising season of Grey’s Anatomy.
