It’s time for a love-themed Supernatural episode and here are the promo and synopsis breakdowns for the new episode.

There are certainly many things to look forward to in the next episode of Supernatural Season 13. The Winchesters are back, with no connections to other hunter friends. If you prefer the old-school focus on just the two brothers, this is an episode for you. But don’t worry Castiel fans, as it looks like the angel is back, too!

That’s not all! As SPN Hunters previously reported, Rowena is back for Episode 12, “Various & Sundry Villains.” While the question is how, don’t expect any answers just yet. We can’t gather it from the promo and synopsis, but here’s what we can take away.

More from Supernatural

#1. It’s all about witches

The synopsis makes it very clear that witches are making a comeback in the episode. Sam and Dean Winchester will go up against sisters Jamie and Jennie Plum. The two sisters steal a book of spells from the Winchesters and go off on a spell-casting spree.

According to the trailer it looks like it’s going to be a love spell, and Dean will be affected. It’s typical Supernatural, as most of the time Dean is the one affected by witches’ spells. Although this one looks to be funny, unlike the last time when Dean lost his memories.

#2. Rowena will return to help

Somehow, Rowena is back. There are plenty of theories how, but the great news is she is back to help the Winchesters. It’s likely that she learns about the sister witches and offers a hand to take those witches down. Or maybe the witches go after the Winchesters out of revenge against Rowena.

Either way, the synopsis makes it very clear that Rowena is going to step in when needed.

#3. A book of spells is stolen

As the synopsis states a book of spells is stolen from the Winchesters, all eyes will be on which particular book of spells. There are two important books used so far in the series: the Book of the Damned and the Grimoire Rowena took after dealing with the family of powerful witches. By the looks of things, it’s the Grimoire.

If it is, it could explain how Rowena learns about the sisters. She’ll likely have some sort of close eye on particular spell books. After all, she’s not stupid! The book may also be the way that she comes back. Maybe somehow she trapped her essence in the book and the sisters release her accidentally (or intentionally).

#4. Castiel is back

Okay, so this isn’t actually from either the synopsis or promo. This is from some of the photos of the episode and from a look at the synopsis for the next episode. “Various and Sundry Villains” will see the return of Castiel and Lucifer. They’re currently trapped in Hell by Asmodeus, but will likely look for their first chance to escape.

It’s been too long since we’ve seen Castiel on screens. And he’s barely been mentioned! Hopefully Asmodeus will also start showing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the episode.

#5. It’s back to the comedy

Finally, the trailer makes a point of including one-off funny lines and quips. That means one thing: it’s going to be a lighthearted episode. It’s not surprising, considering the last episode was relatively heavy. Sam is in a state of darkness over the acceptance everyone close to him dies or is hurt and Donna was left alone after Doug learned about monsters and left her. Supernatural has a habit of following a heavy episode with a lighthearted, standalone funny episode.

Check out the promo trailer and synopsis below:

"Dean (Jensen Ackles) falls victim to a couple of witches, sisters Jamie (guest star Jordan Clair Robbins) and Jennie Plum (guest star Elise Gatien), who manage to steal a powerful book of spells from the Winchester brothers. When Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean go after the book, they get help from a powerful and surprising ally when Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell), back from the dead, intervenes to assist them."
