It’s here. The final trailer before The Walking Dead returns for the back half of Season 8 has arrived. In it, the aftermath of Negan’s latest attack can be seen, along with a few more revealing shots.

More from AMC

With less than a month to go before The Walking Dead returns to television, the debut of a new trailer comes at no surprise. Fans have been eagerly awaiting their first look at Season 8B and now we have it. With it, comes a few peaks at what’s in store for Rick and the gang when they return to action.

For anyone not keeping up, the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead will pick up immediately following Negan’s attack on Alexandria. A shot of Rick and Michonne walking a sick Carl out of the disaster area being evidence of this, but that’s not the only moment which sticks out. The trailer also provides us with a more in-depth look at how the war will progress from this point on. However, each of the revealing shots are compiled into split second montages.

In lieu of the its complex nature, check out a a breakdown of everything we learned from the trailer below—in no particular order.

Jadis has to answer to Simon for betraying Negan during Rick’s latest raid

One of the more interesting shots depicts Jadis conversing with Simon. No dialogue is included so we can’t tell exactly what they’re discussing but we know that she’ll have to answer for joining Rick’s raid on the Sanctuary in the first half of Season 8. The question is, will the Saviors be forgiving or will Jadis be required to offer up a sacrifice?

Rick says his goodbye to Carl at the Hilltop

In one of the more difficult shots to spot, Rick can be seen standing over Glenn and Abraham’s graves. One might think that he’s present to pay his respects to them but Rick’s presence there is likely because of Carl. There’s no where else safe to bury Carl so a plot at the Hilltop makes sense. Nevertheless, Carl’s burial is going to bring with it some sad tidings for everyone impacted by it.

Tara attempts to kill Dwight

Most fans have been waiting for the moment that Tara decides to end Dwight’s life and it looks like that’ll happen quite soon. A shot of Tara with a silenced pistol pressed up against Dwight’s temple makes this evident. Of course, this instance may just be Tara inching closer towards the actual act of ending Dwight’s life. In any case, Dwight is going to be around multiple people who want him dead when the war ends.

Daryl’s crew are going to encounter some underwater walkers during their escape from Alexandria

A few shots scattered throughout the trailer show Daryl and a group of survivors walking towards a small river. There, they appear to encounter some submerged walkers who may wind up biting Rosita. She can be seen struggling to keep one at bay, which might lead to her being bitten herself. A submerged walker was the reason why Bob Stookey got bit, so perhaps Rosita will be devoured during that encounter. Then again, I don’t see Rosita being killed off that way. If anything, she’d use the bite to transform herself into a walker bomb to use against Negan—but that’s just my guess.

Rick and Negan WILL have another showdown, possibly the last

The most entertaining shot in the entire trailer depicts Rick and Negan confronting one another. The location isn’t all that clear but they’re definitely in close proximity of each other, evidenced by the scenery behind both of them. At the same time, Rick can be heard saying “it’s all over” and “this is where you die.” indicating an impending death for Negan. But despite these remarks, Negan seems confident that his pals will come to his rescue. Hopefully that’s not the case, and Rick brings a swift end to the crazed dictator.

Who is Enid crying over?

One of the more peculiar shots in the trailer shows Enid breaking down and sobbing. It’s unclear what has caused her to collapse in this way but she’s probably mourning over someone’s death. While that could be anyone at this point, there’s a good chance Enid is crying over the news of Carl’s death. She and Carl formed a strong bond over the past few seasons, so news of his death could illicit this type of reaction from her.

Michonne attempts to save the Alexandria Safe-Zone

After the mid-season finale left Alexandria in ashes, it didn’t look like Rick or anyone else for that matter would be returning to the rubble left in Negan’s wake. However, a few brief shots in the latest trailer show Michonne trying to close gates. She can be seen pushing back walkers on both sides so this scene definitely takes place after everyone else escapes. Though, the real concern here is whether or not Negan’s forces will return before Michonne and the others can retake the fort.
