At long last, Carol has joined The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon! But just how many episodes will Melissa McBride’s character be in? Here’s what we know?

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Throughout the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the title character (Norman Reedus) has been in France, having washed up in Normandy after some misadventure. He’s been aiding Isabelle (Clemence Poesy), a woman trying to protect Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who a religious group thinks is a new Messiah.

The finale had Daryl finally delivering Laurent to safety in the Nest group. He was then prepared to head back home to America, only to have Laurent find him as a pack of Walkers closed in on them.

The final scene cut back to America as a figure on a motorcycle was chased by someone on a Mustang. The driver was Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Daryl’s longtime partner, searching for him.

Originally, the spin-off was to focus on Daryl and Carol together, but McBride dropped out after some issues with producers. Fans have been eager to see Carol and Daryl reunite at last, but how long will McBride be on the show?

Is Melissa McBride now a regular on TWD: Daryl Dixon?

As announced at the 2023 New York City ComicCon, this is not just a cameo, as Melissa McBride will be a full series regular for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2. The series is currently under production in France, with Season 2 expected in 2024. It should be noted the series has a special exemption to continue production despite the ongoing SAG strike.

Speaking through AMC, McBride talked about how great it felt to continue her role as Carol and becoming a regular at last.

"“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart from (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”"

While no confirmation has come yet, it’s expected that TWD: Daryl Dixon will have six episodes just like Season 1 did. The plotline is likely to follow Carol trying to reach Daryl in France as he continues to keep Laurent safe. It’s also likely to play on what drove the pair apart and Daryl hinting something about Carol troubled him.

It will take a while before the pair are truly reunited, but at least fans can be assured Season 2 of TWD: Daryl Dixon will have Carol on full-time to add to the wild fun.
