The CW is moving to a 6-day week and this could be excellent news for Wayward Sisters.

Fans eagerly anticipating the news on Wayward Sisters may be happy to hear that The CW is adding Sundays to its primetime lineup for the 2018-2019 season. That means rather than running programs Monday to Friday, it will run them Sunday to Friday with two 1-hour slots per night. It’s much needed news considering all the pilots that the network wants to bring in for the 2018-2019 season, and the Supernatural spin-off hasn’t been mentioned yet.

The CW originally had a Sunday lineup when it launched in 2006, but it just didn’t work. Now that the network has grown, it’s time to try again. It’s just in time, as the network is looking at running 20 original scripted shows in the 2018-2019 season, up from 15 this year.

More from Supernatural

Fans of various shows have already seen just how difficult it has been to fit 15 programs into the seasonal lineup. Popular shows have switched nights and time slots, some shows have had to take longer breaks for others and what could have been popular fall shows were pushed for the midseason to make room for all.

So far, a Charmed reboot and a Roswell reboot have been confirmed by the network. Supernatural fans are eagerly awaiting news about the Wayward Sisters spin-off, focusing on Jody Mills, Donna Hanscum, Claire Novak and more. The backdoor pilot was a huge success both in terms of live viewing figures and social media rankings. The CW will also know its app figures, but overall this is a show many fans want.

The change to a Sunday night could be good for the series. It gives Wayward Sisters a strong chance of airing in the fall, rather than waiting for the midseason. To help kickstart both the Sunday nights and the spin-off, Supernatural could air on Sundays at 8/7c with Wayward Sisters following the hour later. Alternatively, The CW could keep Supernatural on Thursdays and follow up with the spin-off and then move Arrows to Sundays to give the night a strong chance of success.

So far, eight pilots have been ordered, plus Wayward. Six pilots got the green light last year, but only four made it to series. While eight may have been ordered, not all may get to run, but The CW looks like it really wants them all.
