Crossroad Blues was the awesome episode of Supernatural that touched on the real history and legend of Robert Johnson, while introducing crossroad demons for the first time. Timeless is introducing the same man and Eric Kripke has high praise.

Eric Krikpe, the man behind both Supernatural and Timeless, has high praise for an upcoming episode of the latter series. Timeless Season 2 starts March 11 and the creator hinted that there would be another episode that would link both his shows. Robert Johnson, who was focused on in Supernatural Season 2’s “Crossroad Blues,” will feature in a Timeless episode.

Kripke took to Twitter to share that he’s now see the episode and is excited for everyone else to watch it. Not only did he tag the Timeless fandom (Clockblockers), but also the SPNFamily, knowing that many would be interested. He also made it very clear that he thinks the episode is better than the Supernatural introduction of the character.

More from Supernatural

It’s possible that the Timeless episode will focus more on who Johnson was and the legend specifically behind him. The man was only used as an initial jumping off point in Supernatural to introduce crossroad demons and hellhounds. It will be interesting how the time-travelling series show him and whether it’s focused on his early career or the legend he became in the end.

Fans of both shows have taken to the comments to share their thoughts. Many view “Crossroad Blues” as a fine episode already, so are excited to see what Kripke can bring to the table with the new storyline.

This isn’t the first time Kripke has revisited a person he’s used in Supernatural. In Timeless Season 1, H.H. Holmes was used, but this one focused on the man before his death; before he was even known as America’s first serial killer. It could be that Kripke will again look deeper into the person rather than just the legend. This is definitely nothing bad towards Supernatural’s storyline. The differences suit the changes in perspective and storytelling across the two shows.

Next: The real history of Robert Johnson and the lore

It’s not clear when Johnson’s storyline will be. If Kripke is already watching the episode, it’s possible that it’s going to be towards the start of Timeless Season 2.
