Some of the guest stars of Supernatural have been the best characters and had the best lines. That was certainly the case in Season 2, Episode 12.

When you think of the episode “Nightshifter,” you will usually think of Ronald at first. Sure, it’s the first episode Victor Henricksen was in an episode, but it was Ronald that stole the show. He also had some of the best lines of the night.

Ronald and his comments need absolutely no introduction. Not if you’re an epic Supernatural fan. However, I will explain why these seven lines are my favorite from the whole episode.

Cops said it was some kind of reflected light. Some kind of “camera flare.” Okay? Ain’t no damn camera flare.

More from Supernatural

A camera flare is often used as an excuse for the flashing of the eyes. Sam and Dean Winchester know that the eyes light up because of supernatural causes and not because of a camera flare. Honestly, Ronald sounds like a mixture of the two brothers when he comments about camera flare and it having to be something else. Then he comes out with his idea of the creation.

Like the Terminator. But the kind that can change itself, make itself look like other people.

Ronald is one of those people who loves his conspiracy theories. In this case, he’s right to be suspicious, but his theories are still a little out there. He believes he’s looking at a Mandroid, and of course, Dean totally understands the reference to Mandroids looking like humans and changing. He instantly connects the dots to T2.

I want you to listen very carefully. Because I’m about to tell you the God’s honest truth about all of this. There’s no such thing as Mandroids.

This part of the episode didn’t really sound like Sam. It felt more like something Dean would say, especially from the second season onward; once Sam was over the need to find his dad. But it was Sam and poor Ronald’s face as he went from excited to disappointed was a picture.

I liked him. He’s not that different from you or me. People think we’re crazy.

Dean is so cute with this line. This was at the point when he was still playful and the world hadn’t completely jaded his opinion of others. He also had a good point about what other people think of him and Sam. This did bring up Sam’s decision to break Ronald’s heart, but it still felt slightly out of character.

Just let me do the talking. I don’t think he likes you very much, Agent Johnson.

As the Winchesters attempt to go through with their plan, Ronald turns back up again. He wants to make sure he takes the thing down, even if it kills him. Well, he doesn’t want it to kill him, but he’s willing to risk things because he’s sure he is right. The Winchesters need to save him and Dean has the chance to pull some pop culture out while getting one up over Sam.

I knew it, as soon as you two left. You aren’t FBI. Who are you? Who are you working for, huh? The Men in Black? You working for the Mandroid?

Ronald continues with his conspiracy theories to the very end. At least he’s consistent with the Mandroid theory. In the end, he does learn what the thing is. If only the Winchesters told him sooner and kept him away from the bank.

And yes, I know about Sam, too. Bonnie to your Clyde.

Our introduction to Henriksen was the fact that he knew all about the Winchesters already. While we screamed at him that he knew nothing about the creatures and monsters, it was easy to understand his view of them. This would be the point he would become a thorn in their side and like Ronald it was a shame what happened to him in the end. This line was perfect because it was pop culture, history, and a human threat against the Winchesters rolled into one.
