The Flash: So what actually is Devoe’s master plan?

This season of The Flash has been all about Devoe and his big master plan, but we know very little about it and have been given very few clues.

The Thinker, known as Devoe, has been an interesting villain for the The Flash Season 4. I think he is more intriguing than Savitar was and his relationship with his wife makes them a wonderfully villainous couple to watch. Things have continued to get complicated, though. At this point, the fact that we know so little about their plan is more frustrating than intriguing.

The whole body swap aspect of Devoe started off as an exciting twist when Team Flash didn’t know who he was and what all his expanding powers were. By now, he just seems almost too powerful and the body swapping brings in some icky questions of consent. Beyond all of that, it just feels weird when he keeps referencing his “master plan” but never elaborates. We can assume that the writers have planned all of this into some big event that will require all of the metas’ powers that he has stolen so far.

His original Thinker abilities include the mind reading, machine control, shrinking ray, the stretchy powers of Ralph, the crazy over-powerful luck abilities, the sound waves of the Fiddler, the power swapping abilities we’ve recently seen, the statue controlling powers and the helium. Other meta abilities have been previewed in the upcoming episode. All of this should hopefully come together in some giant showdown I’m assuming?

It has only been referred to as “the awakening.” My best guess is that he wants to enhance the intelligence of the human race worldwide in some way. I think the biggest problem with his plan is that Devoe already seems too powerful and he will seemingly only get stronger. I mean, The Flash can vibrate so fast he freezes a nuclear bomb in time to figure out how to disarm it, but he can’t grab Devoe before he teleports away?

The luck power of Hazard is also very difficult to quantify. I mean, beating someone that lucky could only happen with some cheap writing. The slow crawl through all of the bus metas and Devoe’s manipulations needs to pick up the pace very soon before this season just becomes boring.

The Flash airs tonight on the CW at 8/7c. Be sure to tune in!
