Notable watches
Shetland is certainly one of the most notable watches of April. Douglas Henshall is back as DI Perez and ready to solve another crime in the Shetland Isles. He’ll open with a case that has been unsolved for 23 years, after convicted murderer Thomas Malone is released from prison.
Our Friends in the North is another series worth tuning in if you’re interested in the police and local authority corruption of the 60s and the far-left militancy of the 70s. It travels through time, through the miner’s strike in Britain, including Margaret Thatcher’s “murder” of the north. Christopher Eccleston, Malcolm McDowell, and Mark Strong are among actors focused on in the series.
The three releases in week two of April are all part of the Political Circus inclusion, as BritBox goes to the polls. If you want caricatures, comedic looks at news stories, and the honest truth in parodic fashion, that is the week for you.
