Of course, his family are shocked to learn all that they’re engaged, but the topic of discussion soon moves onto the image of the scan. It’s Ida that realizes a problem and Stella quickly sees it after. Due to the gestation date on the scan, Aiden can’t possibly be the father.
This wasn’t a case of Marlene trying to trap Aiden. She didn’t realize he wasn’t the father and now realizes she needs to speak to her ex. Meanwhile, Aiden deals with the fact that he’s not going to be a dad yet after all.
2. Peter and Ida share an afternoon together
While there may be many rooting for Peter and Ida to find their way back to each other on Life Sentence, honestly, it’s just good to see the two become friends. During this episode, they both took an afternoon to babysit Diego’s kids.
It’s there that Peter offers Ida a compliment that she’s definitely needed after the rough time they’ve dealt with a sick Stella. But it’s more than that. They have a beautiful moment as they realize they will never stop being parents but that justice will be served through their grandchildren.
3. Wes makes sacrifices
Wes’ storyline for the week was all about a secret project. His savings are gone, so he needs to make ends meet somehow. Despite saying how he was thankful to give up working in finance, he’s started working as a financial adviser with a company in London, England.
Stella is initially angry, but Wes is adamant that he needs to do this. He needs to continue protecting Stella. After an argument, the two decide it’s time to sit down and come to terms with their current financial situation. Life may not be perfect for them, but they do have each other and sometimes sacrifices need to be made. Wes is willing to do that, because he really is just a great guy.
4. Stella gets her high school diploma
The big storyline for the week was that Stella learned about a major lie her parents told her. She never did get her high school diploma. But her diploma that she does have wasn’t faked. Her dad actually wrote “honorary diploma” so the truth was staring at her in plain sight.
When Stella decides to take the GED, she chokes and rushes out of the examination room. Everything that has happened has completely knocked her confidence.
In the end, she does get her high school diploma, but not through sitting the test. Her dad pulls some strings and fakes her diploma. Unfortunately, it’s not in time to get the manager’s job, but she has time to figure things out.
5. Stella realizes what she loves to do
And figure it out she does. What she realizes is that she enjoys making the young cancer patients happy. Some of this involves simple things, like showing all the different ways to tie a head scarf. For other patients, she’s there to have faith and hope the patients will make it through.
It’s after this that Stella is so thankful for Wes making the sacrifices he is, so she’s able to continue volunteering. Will this volunteering lead to a full-time career somewhere along the way?
Meanwhile, at work, she becomes happy enough to remain a barista until she full figures things out. Plus, it looks like her relationship with her manager is going to get better. Maybe the two can actually be friends. Stella needs a friend outside of her family.
