Criminal Minds Season 13 is gearing up for its season finale later this month. This week will see the BAU in charge of a hostage situation, but not in the usual place you’d expect.
Hostage situations are common in banks, stores, and even some apartment buildings. The suspects usually want to gain financially and put people in harm’s way to do so. However, one setting that is going to be used in Criminal Minds Season 13, Episode 19 is a law firm.
If that isn’t scary enough, Matt Simmons’ wife works at the law firm. Could this be something personal for the BAU? It wouldn’t be that surprising if it is. After all, various members have found themselves targets at one stage. That’s why Emily Prentiss faked her own death and moved on, only to later return. Remember way back when Hotch’s ex-wife and child were used as targets to get at Hotch, with his ex-wife killed mercilessly.

Simmons hasn’t been one focused on that much since his appearance. We know a little about him, but he likes to keep a lot to himself. This is a chance to find out more and see that relationship with his wife. He clearly is a man who loves his wife dearly and will likely risk everything to keep her safe. But could this put their relationship on the line as she realizes just how dangerous it is?

There are just three weeks but four episodes left. Criminal Minds will air a two-hour season finale on April 18, making way for Code Black Season 3. Of course, there is now talk about the future of the series. It looks like there are plans for a 14th season, although CBS (and ABC, as it’s a joint production) hasn’t confirmed anything just yet. There will be a major cliffhanger at the end of this season, so we better hope for a renewal!
