Everyone deals with change differently, especially if you’re a recovering alcoholic, but we all have to deal with our emotions eventually. Here’s what happened this week on Mom.

More from CBS

Jill, having been sober for a month, is proud of herself for sticking with it this go-round, but is frustrated because she is unable to date. Saying in reference to herself, “the Lamborghini’s gassed up and fully detailed, Marjorie won’t let me take it out of the garage.”

Devastated from the recent death of his beloved canine companion, Bonnie reveals Adam is having a hard time getting over it. Annoyed, per usual, Bonnie can’t seem to figure out why it’s taking him so long, saying, “all dogs go to heaven, now move on.”

Worried about how things are going with Patrick in the aftermath of his disastrous birthday weekend, Christy speculates whether or not he is planning on breaking up with her or initiating cyber sex during their planned Skype date that night. Calling the couple her “Kate and William,” Wendy is unable to control her emotions thinking about Christy and Patrick possibly calling it quits, reminding us why she has the nickname of “Weeping Wendy.”

That night, Adam surprises Bonnie by shaving and getting cleaned up, suggesting he is ready to move on. Instructing him to watch TV while she cleans and puts the dog bowls away, the tears come right back when Adam sees a commercial about adopting pets.

Feeling she has no choice  but to let him wallow in his pity, Bonnie escapes to comfort of her own home. Once there, she finds Christy a blubbering mess, having just been broken up with by Patrick. Explaining that he broke up with her because she refused to move in with him, Christy argues that she isn’t ready to leave her life in Napa behind.

Deciding to cheer Christy up in a way only she knows how, Jill treats her to some retail therapy. While shopping, Jill spots her ex husband’s new wife, and has to hide, revealing she might’ve at one time stalked her. Bribing Christy to go talk to her, Jill is utterly crushed to learn her ex and his new wife are doing great, as is their child. After explaining that she moved to California from Charleston to be with her ex husband, Jill says she would’ve gone anywhere if it meant they could be together. Hearing this, Christy realizes she probably didn’t love Patrick as much as she thought she did.

Thinking a puppy would raise Adam’s spirits, Bonnie adopts one as a surprise for him. Adam, angry that she did that, fights with her over not being able to grieve the passing of his dog on his own time, and refuses to accept the puppy, forcing Bonnie to find a new home for it. While trying to pawn it off on Marjorie, the two discuss whether or not Bonnie was really thinking with Adam’s best interests in mind when she adopted the dog.

Stuck with the puppy at her place, Bonnie is surprised when Adam shows up apologizing for not being easy to be around. Finally caving, he decides to keep the dog, naming him Gus. Showing a never before seen nurturing side, Christy is disgusted to see Bonnie treat Gus better than she was ever treated as a child.
