Cobra Kai is bringing the Karate Kid universe back to nostalgic fans. There are pressing questions before we get started.

More from Entertainment

Fans of The Karate Kid should be stoked. A long-awaited reboot is happening. What’s more, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are reprising their roles as enemies. No word yet on the rest of the Cobra Kai.

Before things get started, however, there are a ton of details fans are excited about. Naturally, that brings about questions about the plot, the history, the characters, and everything else. Not the least of which is how in the world did his mother drive from NJ to CA for a computer job, only to quit and start working at a restaurant almost immediately thereafter? Here are ten pressing questions before The Karate Kid returns via Cobra Kai.

How exactly did Daniel work his way to owning multiple car dealerships?

Now that Daniel is more about “car”ate instead of karate, there needs to be ample back story about his successes. Did he sell off all of Miyagi’s amazing house and invest the money? Did he reunite with Ali and mooch of his rich girlfriend? Or maybe he just started liquidating all the antique cars? Perhaps he was just waxing on and off one day and thought about randomly posting a picture online? We need to know.

What happened to Mr. Miyagi’s Little Trees?

Speaking of Miyagi’s stuff, where is the bonsai shop? I’m guessing Daniel forgot to water them and they all died. Or maybe he applied a harsh chemical fertilizer without doing research and made all the soil toxic. In fact, his earliest exposure with bonsai trees showed his complete lack of natural talent with the delicate trees.

Were the geniuses of “No More Kings” consulted at all?

Honestly, the “Sweep the Leg Video” could easily serve as the rough draft of the script. Johnny is down and out, living in a trailer and reminiscing about his peak high school days. To put it differently, that’s what is actually happening in Cobra Kai.

Should Daniel have been disqualified from the original tournament?

There is another theory about Daniel’s final move that won him the tournament. What’s more, it’s fairly complex. In fact, there is an entire breakdown of it with references to rules in the actual karate world. Should he even have been the winner? What would their world look like if Daniel had been DQ’d?

Did Daniel learn any anything from Miyagi?

Does Daniel even remotely realize he’s a disgrace to his sensei’s teachings? As a matter of fact, there’s the whole internet concept that he’s been the villain the entire time, but this alternate future sure seems to support that concept. He’s currently using his “car”ate to pimp out a cheesy car dealership that doesn’t reflect Miyagi’s teachings at all.

Is Daniel’s professional life the same as his personal life?

Daniel’s youthful moral high ground could be his entire persona. He could be a good guy. Conversely, he might just be an overconfident prick who thinks it’s still high school, and that he’d have a chance in a no holds barred fight versus Johnny. The self righteousness is sickening.

Will there be a reference to How I Met Your Mother?

Let’s be clear, Barney reinforced the “Johnny is the The Karate Kid“-concept. Let’s hope for a NPH cameo as an abusive father.

Will classic lines be used?

Much like the Rocky franchise needed to get over that Rocky V abortion, the The Karate Kid franchise needs to wash the Jaden Smith version of The Karate Kid out of everyone’s collective mouths. Furthermore, that atrocity should have caused collateral damage on the entire Smith family, and anyone else in the industry with a Smith surname. With this in mind, we need just as much authenticity as possible. Wax on, wax off. Look eye. [B]elt mean no need rope to hold up pants. Squish like grape.

If none of the classic lines are included, “Get him a body bag! Yeah!”

How about a love triangle?

Bring back Elisabeth Shue! Please. She needs this series and this series needs her. Additionally, seeing her choose Johnny over Daniel, who is apparently married, would be full circle awesomeness.

Will there be a eulogy?

The late, great Pat Morita deserves a nod. Karate Kid owes him a proper send off. Indeed, a quick backstory that includes an Okinowan reunion with his beloved Yukie would be perfect.
