Mazikeen no longer appears to be Lucifer’s right-hand demon and the big question now is will she become his next greatest foe?

In the beginning, you couldn’t have one without the other. Wherever Lucifer was, Mazikeen (Maze) was somewhere nearby. She walked with him through the gates of hell, became his bartender and unofficial protector/bodyguard.

That special bond, however, has been breaking. As the latest season has progressed the distance between the two has gotten bigger and now it looks like it is at the point of no return. Maze no longer wants to live on earth. She wants to go home, back to hell, but Lucifer won’t take her.

More from FOX

In her desperation, she teamed up with Cain/Pierce to manipulate both Chloe and Lucifer in order to get what they wanted. For Pierce it was the removal of his mark, for Maze it was having Lucifer back on her side. The plan, however, failed. Well, it did for Maze anyway, somehow, and I have theorized how Pierce no longer has his mark.

So now with her plan failed and Lucifer fully aware that she tried to manipulate him, what will happen? Will Lucifer take her home? If not, what will Maze do? Will she become his enemy and become a huge problem for Lucifer?

What lies ahead on Lucifer

If we take a very quick look at the episode synopsis available for the upcoming episodes of Lucifer we have:

Episode 21, “Anything Pierce Can Do I Can Do Better;”

"When a ballerina is brutally murdered, Lucifer helps Chloe solve the case; Amenadiel begs Charlotte to help him with an important plan; Maze remains devoted to a task from which Pierce asked her to back away."

Episode 22, No Episode Title Listed;

"When Chloe takes some time off, Lucifer is forced to work with Dan on a murder case involving a dog show. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Maze have differing ideas for Chloe’s party and after a wild night, Chloe rethinks a life-changing decision."

Based on the synopsis for next week’s episode we can say that Maze has not had a sudden change of heart. She still appears to be hellbent on accomplishing something. But accomplishing what exactly? Is it the task of manipulating Chloe and Lucifer in order to go home or is it something else?

Episode 22 hints at Maze helping to plan a party for Chloe. If she was going all evil, it’s highly doubtful she would be planning a party. Unless it’s a victory party.

Best bet is next week we will see Maze continue on the path she has been on for some time now, but by the end of the episode, she will be heading into a more positive storyline. And I am going to toss my hat into the ring and say it will be Trixie that is the key.
