Supernatural has always loved making fun of itself. That was certainly the case for Season 2, Episode 18 when the brothers went to Hollywood.

One thing Supernatural fans can now expect every season is the show to poke fun at itself. This really started with Season 2, Episode 18, titled “Hollywood Babylon.” The Winchesters headed to Hollywood for some much needed R&R, but it all turned into a case. A number of the characters were either named after or portrayals of the cast and crew of the real series.

Hell Hazers II: The Reckoning

The episode started with the Winchesters going to L.A. for a break. Dean wanted Sam to take some time off after the events with Madison, but in true Winchesters style, Sam just wanted to get back into work. They get to Hollywood anyway and movie-buff Dean is excited to see one of his favorite actresses, Tara Benchley.

This pulls them in on a case, as Tara says she saw an apparition near the body of a stagehand killed on set. However, the Winchesters learn that the stagehand’s death was faked to help with movie promotion. Yet, when studio exec, Brad Redding, dies, Dean decides to go undercover as a P.A. to get to the bottom of it. It’s a job he throws himself into, especially for the free food!

The Winchesters learn that a young actress in the 1920s killed herself after being wooed, dumped, and fired by a studio exec at the time. It doesn’t take them long to think she’s the vengeful spirit, so they quickly salt and burn her bones.

Another mysterious death

It’s not that surprising that another death happens on set. While watching the filming, Sam realizes that the Latin in the movie’s summoning ritual is real. It’s the only part of the original Hell Hazers II script that is real.

The original script was penned by Walter Dixon and he’s using real Latin to get revenge for the butchering of his script. Before the Winchesters are able to stop Dixon, he destroys the talisman he was using to bind and control the spirits. As has happened before on Supernatural, the freed spirits turn on their bounder: Dixon.

Elements of the save are added to the new movie, and it’s time for the Winchesters to head out of town. Of course, that’s not before Dean gets his wild time with Tara in her trailer.
