2018 is a big year for a lot of popular shows. Many are reaching their fifth birthday. Here are five covering a mixture of genres.

Milestone birthdays are important for shows. The fifth year is usually the point that shows reach their 100th episode, especially those that still follow the 22-episode format. You’ve possibly watched many of the shows on this list from the day they were released. Others you’ve likely had the chance to get them on catch-up later.

Last year I looked at five shows turning five in 2017, focusing on mixture for all interests and this year I’m doing the same. This list offers something in all genres, whether you want comedy, political conspiracies, or those loosely based on true stories. Here are five shows turning five in 2018. Celebrate their fifth birthdays with them.

#1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

This FOX comedy is a guilty pleasure for many. Much like The Big Bang Theory in the sense that you can watch any of the episodes completely out of order, the series focuses on a New York police precinct. The first season gave you chance to meet the main players, as Captain Holt joined the team and got to know his detectives, too. They’ve come a long way since this point, although the main cast has never changed.

Now classed as a bubble show (it’s still hard to tell if the series will get renewed next year), Brooklyn Nine-Nine celebrated its 99th episode earlier this year. Sure, the 100th episode is the big one for every show except this one because “Nine-Nine” is an extremely special number to the precinct.

Created by Dan Goor and and Michael Schur, the series debuted on September 17, 2013. Will you celebrate the fifth birthday? Hopefully a sixth season will be picked up to allow everyone to celebrate this date in style. After all, it will be a chance to celebrate Captain Holt’s arrival.
