Dom Sherwood talks switching between Jace and The Owl on Shadowhunters season 3, teases the future of Clace post anti-love potion, and reveals the real-life effects of drinking that fake beer. Spoiler: There was lots of farting.

Under Lilith’s control, Jace will continue to take on the persona of The Owl demon in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6, working diligently to possess the 33rd and final disciple. Up until this point, Jace has only been controlled by Lilith while he was sleeping, his love for Clary too strong for Lilith to break past. But at the end of last week’s episode, we saw Jace drink Magnus’ “anti-love” potion that Lilith slipped into his beer (more on that later), and it appears as though she was successful in breaking Clace apart.

In the scene at Hunter’s Moon, there was a definitive change in Jace after taking a sip of the laced drink. We caught up with Dom Sherwood to learn more about how we’re going to see the effects of this now that Lilith’s gained even more control over his mind.

Hidden Remote: It’s very strange to think of a Jace who doesn’t have feelings for Clary at all. What can you tell us about how this potion is going to affect Jace and his personality?

Dom Sherwood: Ok, now first of all, I think we need to talk about the really important issues with this potion. There are real serious issues. Now, Anna (Lilith) puts it in a beer. Those beers on the day were obviously non-alcoholic. Let me tell you, they’re very fizzy and the number one first effect I found from drinking those beers over and over again — and Anna can confirm this if you talk to Anna — is it made me very gassy. It was a lot of bubbles and it made me gassy.

Effect number 2? Close second I would say, is falling out of love with the love of my life. Now, some people out there might think that this is more important, but you weren’t there folks! You weren’t there that day; it was something else.

In all seriousness, it is going to take a drastic turn. Heartbreak is going to ensue. There’s no two ways about it unfortunately. I think that’s it for what I can say without giving anything away.

We’re going to have some altercations in the next episode. Some questions are going to be answered in relation to this and in relation to other things we have going on in the storyline, and with what’s going on in Simon’s storyline. There are a few things that sort of come to a head in the next episode.
