Lightwood family dinner gets complicated on Shadowhunters season 3, episode 6, A Window Into An Empty Room.

With only one more mundane needed, Lilith will send The Owl on a mission to find the perfect disciple in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6. The anti-love potion is in full effect, and Lilith has more control over Jace than ever before. His feelings for Clary ripped away, Jace is even under the demon’s control while he’s awake. But because he has family and friends who care for his well-being, Jace/The Owl struggles on his mission, which leads to extra suspense and entertainment for the audience.

As you have likely already seen in the teaser clip, Alec and Magnus have a disagreeable morning in the loft when Alec brings up the box again, but Alec will seek advice from other people he trusts and loves soon after. Matthew Daddario warned us that stress-inducing times were ahead, but Alec has an opportunity to open up about his feelings and fears in the episode (thanks in part to several alcoholic drinks), and I’m curious to see where their story will go from here.

Will Malec need to have important, difficult conversations in the near future? Yes.

Did I have night terrors after “A Window Into An Empty Room”? No.

Maryse is back at the Institute in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6, and there are some truly lovely moments between Mama Lightwood and her three older children. Even though we’re seeing a whole new kind of Jace, there are still sweet parabatai moments and fun big brother parabatai moments, especially when it comes to a special mundane guest who may be joining Lightwood family dinner at Hunter’s Moon.

Piecing together the information that they already know about Lilith and The Owl, it’s Clary and Magnus who will team up to try and uncover its true identity. They seek help from a character fans will know from the books, and use their combined strengths to try and get further in the case, doing everything in their power to stop The Owl demon from hurting any more mundanes. The photo reveals a bit about one place they’ll visit on their investigation:

Luke and Ollie are also still on the hunt for The Owl, and though both of their story arcs are important in the episode, it’s hard to not give too much away. Luke is still keeping Clary’s secret, and he’ll be letting Ollie in on more of what’s happening in the Shadow World, but we’ll also see Luke reconnecting with an old friend with whom he can offer advice.

Though there are more entertaining bro-ments between Simon and Kyle in “A Window Into An Empty Room,” Simon is spends much of the episode on high alert after being stalked by Heidi. Nervous that Heidi is going to take her stalking to a dangerous level, Simon becomes protective of Maia, especially while she’s working at Hunter’s Moon. Without giving anything away, miscommunication and assumptions that are made about certain character relationships lead to several intense sequences at the bar, along with a few moments that will have Sizzy fans smiling.

Just over halfway through season 3A, the end of the episode sets up a new chapter that is sure to escalate all the way through the mid-season finale in May.
