Roseanne, birdhouses and moms visit the Conner family.

What do you do when your nagging mother get’s the boot from her nursing home and has to live with one of the daughters? Well, its a problem that both Roseanne and Jackie face as Bev is now residing with Rosie. Bev is annoying as ever. She wakes up, grumbles and grounds some coffee beans. All in the early morning giving headaches to all involved.

As much as both Roseanne and Dan would tolerate Bev, their house has no vacancy. Darlene and their two grandchildren have now landed. The result of the problem? Both Roseanne and Jackie will take turns babysitting their mother.

Taking turns, almost like when they were children and had to rotate chores. Something tells me they’d rather do the chores.

Someone has to take the first blow, so the sisters Ro-Sham-Bo to see who gets the shaft. With scissors from Rosie and rock from Jackie, Roseanne must go first. She realizes where she went wrong too. “I should have knew you were going to make a fist. We were talking about mom!”

When it becomes Jackie’s turn, Roseanne promptly drops her off at 6 am . Jackie is not too happy about her new arrival. She leaves her mom at the apartment and, as a quick, escape Jackie goes grocery shopping and registers her DMV license early.

Bev is hurt by her daughters choice to not spend time with her. In retaliation, she decides to start pushing Jackie’s buttons. Questioning her on how she needs to keep a man instead of just having one. Demonstrating her furniture is made for one, and her career as a Life Coach also doesn’t jive. Bev states matter factly: “When I hear Life Coach, I think it should be someone who has a life.” In retort, Jackie reminds her mother of the Godfather, gives her a death kiss on the lips, and says, “buenonote mama.”

In the meantime, Dan continues to struggle with Mark and his flair. This time, he allows Mark to build a birdhouse that a customer wants a replica of the house Dan is drywalling. Dan gives Mark the chance to impress and hands the project over.

Unfortunately, the house turns out to be more of a neon, futuristic, portal type structure than a home. Dan knows he can’t use it and must rebuild. However, Darlene objects. This time around, I think Dan is right. He tells Darlene that workers need to follow the rules or they get fired.

When the morning comes, Jackie wakes up to her furniture in disarray to accompany two instead of one. Her mother is also missing. Becky calls and tells Roseanne that she is happy to have her grandmother live in her apartment. All things change when Becky finds out that grandma is broke and is having sex with her boyfriend (Christopher Lloyd) at her place.

Mark understands what his grandfather has been saying and delivers the new birdhouse. It it’s a smile on Dan’s face and prompting Darlene to tell Mark that its okay to follow the rules as long as you don’t lose sight of who you are as a person.

Roseanne and Jackie head over to Becky’s to bring their mother back home. Here, Jackie and Bev have a heart-to-heart conversation. This talk sparks when Jackie finds her mother in a fake suicide attempt by throwing herself out the window. Jackie plays it off until her mother nearly leaps from the window pane.

Next: Catching Up with Roseanne

Jackie tells her that even though she would have a great life without her mom, she also knows it would be more difficult without her there. With that, she invites Bev to move in permanently at her place.
