Who was excited about Michael becoming part of Supernatural Season 13? How do you feel now that he’s only been in three episodes?

Apocalypse Michael was poised as the big bad of Supernatural Season 13. He was the victor in the apocalypse in the AU World and instantly showed off his strength and power in the second episode of the season. Then he just sort of disappeared.

He’s been in three episodes so far. Three. That’s it.

An archangel that was set to be the big bad has been mentioned plenty of times and is supposed to be the most-feared being on the planet, but has only been spotted three times. When Christian Keyes is on screen as the big bad archangel, he’s been exquisite and it’s possible to see the potential but he just hasn’t been on the screen enough to be feared.

We need to see more of Apocalypse Michael

More from Supernatural

Had we never seen Michael in the first place, I wouldn’t think of the wasted potential. One of the things about a being that is always heard about but not seen is sensing the power through the other characters. This could be something the Supernatural Season 13 writers were going for with the character but they ruined it with Michael’s appearance in the second episode.

We got to see the power that Michael has, but not enough of it. There was a chance to see a big showdown between Michael and Lucifer, but there was never the chance to see it fully happen.

The times that we’ve seen Michael since he’s let Mary and Jack slip through his fingers. He’s sent other angels out to do his dirty work and we’ve watched them fail. He’s now off leading an army, but we have no idea what he’s doing. Other angels have caught some of the resistance, only to be wiped out by Dean and Ketch. This isn’t the Michael that we expected after that first episode.

He’s not lived up to expectations and he’s become wasted potential.

Supernatural Season 13 still has a chance

There’s a chance in the next two episodes to show us Michael’s true potential. I started to wonder whether Michael would become more of a threat by stepping into the Winchesters’ world. Part of me wondered if this was the way to show his true abilities.

So far, nothing has happened. Michael stepping through the rift may be the big cliffhanger at the end of the season, but it’s difficult to tell now. I didn’t see Asmodeus get killed off so quickly–and there is more wasted potential this season.

There is a chance, but I’m not sure if the writers will take that chance and run with it. So far, Apocalypse Michael (and Christian Keyes) has been wasted potential for Supernatural and I hope Season 14 fixes that.
